Non-extensive Entropy and Quasi-Equilibrium States in Hamiltonian Mean-Field Model

چکیده
We investigate the thermodynamic properties of Hamiltonian mean-field(HMF) model as a prototypical long-range system by means of the non-extensive thermostatistics. Especially, the quasi-equilibrium state as extremum state of the generalized Tsallis entropy is studied and its thermodynamic stability is analyzed. Based on these analysis, the connection with quasi-stationary behaviors found in the numerical simulations is discussed.

Stability criteria of the Vlasov equation and quasi-stationary states of the HMF model
We perform a detailed study of the relaxation towards equilibrium in the Hamiltonian Mean-Field (HMF) model, a prototype for long-range interactions inN -particle dynamics. In particular, we point out the role played by the infinity of stationary states of the associated N → ∞ Vlasov dynamics. In this context, we derive a new general criterion for the stability of any spatially homogeneous dist...
متن کاملfrustrated honeycomb lattice Ising model
We study a classical fully-frustrated honeycomb lattice Ising model using Markov chain Monte Carlo methods and exact calculations . The Hamiltonian realizes a degenerate ground state manifold of equal-energy states, where each hexagonal plaquette of the lattice has one and only one unsatisfied bond, with an extensive residual entropy that grows as the number of spins N . Traditional singlespin ...
متن کاملDynamics and Thermodynamics of a model with long-range interactions
The dynamics and the thermodynamics of particles/spins interacting via long-range forces display several unusual features with respect to systems with shortrange interactions. The Hamiltonian Mean Field (HMF) model, a Hamiltonian system of N classical inertial spins with infinite-range interactions represents a paradigmatic example of this class of systems. The equilibrium properties of the mod...
متن کاملEntropy of Self - Gravitating Systems III . quasi - equilibrium structure using normalized q - values
We revisit the issues on the thermodynamic property of stellar self-gravitating system arising from Tsallis’ non-extensive entropy. Previous papers (Physica A 307 (2002) 185; ibid. (2003) in press (cond-mat/0204315)) have revealed that the extremum-state of Tsallis entropy, so-called stellar polytrope, has consistent thermodynamic structure, which predicts the thermodynamic instability due to t...
متن کاملInvariant correlational entropy and complexity of quantum states
We define correlational ~von Neumann! entropy for an individual quantum state of a system whose timeindependent Hamiltonian contains random parameters and is treated as a member of a statistical ensemble. This entropy is representation independent, and can be calculated as a trace functional of the density matrix which describes the system in its interaction with the noise source. We analyze pe...
