Nonlinear control of nonsquare multivariable systems

چکیده
This paper is concerned with the synthesis of a nonlinear state feedback law for nonsquare multivariable nonlinear systems. Previous approaches in the literature have solved this problem by (1) squaring the system by discarding some inputs or by adding new outputs, or (2) by utilizing some inputs for input/output (I/O) linearization and the remaining inputs for minimizing cost. In this paper, a nonlinear feedback law is synthesized which utilizes all the available inputs to I/O linearize the system and minimize the cost of the control e!ort by solving a convex optimization problem on-line. This procedure is illustrated via simulation of a regulation problem in a nonlinear continuous stirred tank reactor with three inputs and two outputs. 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Optimal Control of Nonlinear Multivariable Systems
This paper concerns a study on the optimal control for nonlinear systems. An appropriate alternative in order to alleviate the nonlinearity of a system is the exact linearization approach. In this fashion, the nonlinear system has been linearized using input-output feedback linearization (IOFL). Then, by utilizing the well developed optimal control theory of linear systems, the compensated ...
متن کاملDiscrete-Time Robust Steady-State Control of Nonlinear Multivariable Systems: A Unified Approach
The steady-state control of multivariable nonlinear discrete-time, time-invariant systems in the presence of arbitrary unmeasurable but bounded disturbances is addressed in this paper. The pseudoinverse model approach as a unified concept to cope with possible noninvertibility and to achieve a desired behavior of a wide class of both linear and of nonlinear multi-input multi-output square and a...
متن کاملA Smith Factorization Approach to Robust Minimum Variance Control of Nonsquare LTI MIMO Systems
The minimum phase systems have ultimately been redefined for LTI discrete-time systems, at first SISO and later square MIMO ones, as those systems for which minimum variance control (MVC) is asymptotically stable, or in other words those systems who have ‘stable’ zeros, or at last as ‘stably invertible’ systems. The redefinition has soon been extended to nonsquare discrete-time LTI MIMO systems...
متن کاملDecoupled Smith predictor for multivariable nonsquare systems with multiple time delays
The classical multivariable Smith predictor is extended to multivariable nonsquare systems with multiple time delays where the number of process inputs is higher than the process outputs. Pairing for input and output variables is carried out using the block relative gain technique. Simplified decoupling method is applied to design the decouplers. The decoupled processes are modeled as first-ord...

This paper takes advantage of nonuniqueness of the inverse problem for nonsquare transfer function matrices of multivariable systems in order to select such poles, if any, of a minimum variance control system that can either guarantee its closed-loop stability or provide (a sort of) robustness to the control system. As a result, new pole-free and stable-pole MVC designs are offered for nonsquar...
