Spectroscopic evidences of quantum critical charge fluctuations in cuprates

چکیده
We calculate the optical conductivity in a clean system of quasiparticles coupled to charge-ordering collective modes. The absorption induced by these modes may produce an anomalous frequency and temperature dependence of lowenergy optical absorption in some cuprates. However, the coupling with lattice degrees of freedom introduces a nonuniversal energy scale leading to scaling violation in low-temperature optical conductivity.

Collective transport and optical absorption near the stripe criticality
There are by now several experimental evidences that the peculiar properties of the cuprates are controlled by a Quantum Critical Point (QCP), located near (actually slightly above) the optimal doping δ = δopt [1]. Already several years ago some of us proposed [2] that the pseudogap region of the underdoped cuprates is characterized by the pronounced tendency to form (local) spatial ordering (t...
متن کاملThe physics of the stripe quantum critical point in the superconducting cuprates
We elaborate on several observable consequences of the Quantum-Critical-Point scenario. In particular we show that the strong k-dependent scattering of the quasiparticles with the quasi-critical charge and spin fluctuations reproduces the main features of the low-energy spectral weights and of the observed Fermi surfaces. In the underdoped cuprates the attractive k-dependent charge scattering d...

We discuss how Raman spectra of high temperature superconducting cuprates are affected by nearly-critical spin and charge collective modes, which are coupled to charge carriers near a stripe quantum critical point. We find that specific fingerprints of nearly-critical collective modes can be observed and that the selectivity of Raman spectroscopy in momentum space may be exploited to distinguis...
متن کاملFluctuating Charge Order: A Universal Phenomenon in Unconventional Superconductivity?
Unconventional superconductors are characterized by various competing ordering phenomena in the normal state, such as antiferromagnetism, charge order, orbital order or nematicity. According to a widespread view, antiferromagnetic fluctuations are the dominant ordering phenomenon in cuprates and Fe based superconductors and are responsible for electron pairing. In contrast, charge order is beli...
متن کاملStripe ordering and two-gap model for underdoped cuprates
The evidence of edge-gaps around the M-points in the metallic state of underdoped cuprates has triggered a very active debate on their origin. We first consider the possibility that this spectroscopic feature results from a quasi-static charge ordering taking place in the underdoped regime. It comes out that to explain the coexistence of gaps and arcs on the Fermi surface the charge modulation ...
