چکیده

We observed SDSS J0836+0054, the most distant radio-loud quasar known at present (z = 5.774) with the European Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) Network at the 5 GHz frequency on 2003 November 4. The source is compact at the milli-arcsecond (mas) angular scale with a flux density of 0.34 mJy. The observations with the Very Large Array (VLA) made on the consecutive day support a conclusion that the radio emission from SDSS J0836+0054 is essentially confined within the central 40 pc. Based on our phase-referenced VLBI observation, we obtained the astrometric position of the source accurate to ∼ 2 mas.

Radio structure of the most distant radio-detected quasar at the ten milli-arcsecond scale

We present a high resolution radio image of SDSS 0836+0054 identified recently as the most distant radio-detected quasar at a redshift of z = 5.82. The observation was carried out with ten antennas of the European VLBI Network, spread from Europe to China and South Africa, at 1.6 GHz frequency on 2002 June 8. The source is detected with a total flux density of 1.1 mJy, equal to its flux density...

The highest redshift radio quasar as seen with the EVN and the VLA

Abstract. We report on European VLBI Network (EVN) and Very Large Array (VLA) observations of SDSS J0836+0054, the most distant radio-loud quasar known at present (z = 5.774). The source, with a total flux density of 1.1 mJy, shows a compact structure at ∼ 10 mas angular resolution at 1.6 GHz frequency, with no indication of multiple images produced by gravitational lensing within a 4′′ × 4′′ f...

High - resolution double morphology of the most distant known radio quasar at z = 6 . 12

Context. The highest redshift quasars at z > ∼ 6 receive considerable attention since they provide strong constraints on the growth of the earliest supermassive black holes. They also probe the epoch of reionisation and serve as " lighthouses " to illuminate the space between them and the observer. The source J1427+3312 (z = 6.12) has recently been identified as the first and so far the only kn...

Quasar Clustering from Sdss Dr5: Dependences on Physical Properties

Using a homogenous sample of 38,208 quasars with a sky coverage of ∼ 4000deg2 drawn from the SDSS Data Release Five quasar catalog, we study the dependence of quasar clustering on luminosity, virial black hole mass, quasar color, and radio loudness. At z < 2.5, quasar clustering depends weakly on luminosity and virial black hole mass, with typical uncertainty levels ∼ 10% for the measured corre...

Discovery of Radio Emission from the Quasar Sdss J1536+0441, a Candidate Binary Black-hole System

The radio-quiet quasar SDSS J1536+0441 shows two broad-line emission systems that Boroson & Lauer interpret as a candidate binary black-hole system with a separation of 0.1 pc (0.02 mas). From new VLA imaging at 8.5 GHz, two faint sources, separated by 0.97 (5.1 kpc), have been discovered within the quasar’s optical localization region. Each radio source is unresolved, with a diameter of less t...
