چکیده
A search of the literature has revealed only one report in Britain of posterior dislocation Of the elbow complicated by rupture of the brachial artery. This was a closed injury (Marnham 1934). In America, Cotton (1924) described the complication of arterial rupture as “ excessively rare and compound mainly. “ Eliason and Brown (1937) collected twenty-one case records of posterior dislocation of the elbow with arterial damage. Sixteen of these were open injuries and in fifteen the brachial artery was found divided. In the remainder, the

Complete Brachial Artery Transection following closed Posterior Elbow Dislocation: A Rare Case Report
INTRODUCTION Vascular injury associated withclosed posterior elbow dislocations is rare and it usually occurs along with open dislocation, anterior dislocation, penetrating injuries, dislocations associated with fracture. We report such a case of closed posterior elbow dislocation with complete brachial artery rupture. CASE REPORT A 58 years old lady sustained posterior dislocation of right e...
متن کاملA case of elbow hyperextension leading to complete brachial artery rupture
BACKGROUND To our knowledge there are no cases in the literature of traumatic vascular injury of the brachial artery by elbow hyperextension without elbow dislocation based on either clinical or radiological evidence. CASE PRESENTATION We present the first case of complete brachial artery rupture resulting from a hyperextension injury to an elbow, without dislocation. The history, early asses...

The authors describe a relatively rare avulsion injury of the brachial artery complicating elbow dislocation in a young man, together with the relevant diagnostics and treatment. In the discussion, they deal with the symptomatology of artery injuries and available examination methods, suggesting an appropriate treatment algorithm.

Posterior elbow dislocation with vascular injury is rarely encountered, but it is crucial for every emergency physician to diagnose it. Missing these injuries can result in neurovascular compromise, which in turn can lead to limb ischemia, compartment syndrome and potential limb loss. Having a normal X-ray on presentation makes this injury more difficult to diagnose. In this study, we present a...
