چکیده

We present a general set of techniques for directly estimating and tracking deformable surfaces from a stream of rectified stereo pairs. These techniques are based on iterative updating of surface representations directly from image information and use no disparity search except during initialization. We perform the tracking through an iteratively re-weighted least squares minimization wherein a mask is incorporated to increase robustness to occlusion. The algorithms are formulated for a general family of linear in parameters surface models, and discussed for the specific case of tensor product surfaces. We also show that it is possible to naturally incorporate dynamic surface segmentation into the algorithm. These algorithms have been implemented and run at or near frame rate. We evaluate their performance on a variety of image data, including cloth and bending paper.

Technical Report 2003-XX-CIRL-CS-JHU Real-time Video Mosaicing with Adaptive Parametric Warping

Image registration/video mosaicing can be computed by the intensity difference minimization between two images. The image appearance changes are normally caused by images taken under different viewpoints. Families of spatial transformations are used to compensate for the difference. Different sensors and different illumination conditions can also change image intensities [19, 10]. Mutual inform...

Technical Report 2003-03-CIRL-CS-JHU Augmented Reality Combining Haptics and Vision

Recently, haptic devices have been successfully incorporated into the human-computer interaction model. However, a drawback common to almost all haptic systems is that the user must be attached to the haptic device at all times, even though force feedback is not always being rendered. This constant contact hinders perception of the virtual environment, primarily because it prevents the user fro...

Technical Report 2004-01-CIRL-CS-JHU Image Segmentation Through Energy Minimization Based Subspace Fusion

In this paper we present an image segmentation technique that fuses contributions from multiple feature subspaces using an energy minimization approach. For each subspace, we compute a per-pixel quality measure and perform a partitioning through the standard normalized cut algorithm [12]. To fuse the subspaces into a final segmentation, we compute a subspace label for every pixel. The labeling ...

Analysis and Synthesis of Facial Expressions by Feature-Points Tracking and Deformable Model

Face expression recognition is useful for designing new interactive devices offering the possibility of new ways for human to interact with computer systems. In this paper we develop a facial expressions analysis and synthesis system. The analysis part of the system is based on the facial features extracted from facial feature points (FFP) in frontal image sequences. Selected facial feature poi...
