Non-cooperative competition among revenue maximizing service providers with demand learning

چکیده
This paper recognizes that in many decision environments in which revenue optimization is attempted, an actual demand curve and its parameters are generally unobservable. Herein, we describe the dynamics of demand as a continuous time differential equation based on an evolutionary game theory perspective. We then observe realized sales data to obtain estimates of parameters that govern the evolution of demand; these are refined on a discrete time scale. The resulting model takes the form of a differential variational inequality. We present an algorithm based on a gap function for the differential variational inequality and report its numerical performance for an example revenue optimization problem. 2008 Elsevier B.V. Competition and Cooperation Analysis for Data Sponsored Market: A Network Effects Model
The data sponsored scheme allows the content provider to cover parts of the cellular data costs for mobile users. Thus the content service becomes appealing to more users and potentially generates more profit gain to the content provider. In this paper, we consider a sponsored data market with a monopoly network service provider, a single content provider, and multiple users. In particular, we ...
متن کاملA Game-theoretic Framework for Revenue Sharing in Edge-Cloud Computing System
We introduce a game-theoretic framework to explore revenue sharing in an Edge-Cloud computing system, in which computing service providers at the edge of the Internet (edge providers) and computing service providers at the cloud (cloud providers) co-exist and collectively provide computing resources to clients (e.g., end users or applications) at the edge. Different from traditional cloud compu...
متن کاملCooperative network flow problem with pricing decisions and allocation of benefits: A game theory approach
Several real problems in telecommunication, transportation, and distribution industries can be well analyzed by network flow models. In revenue management, pricing plays a primary role which increases the profit generated from a limited supply of assets. Pricing decision directly affects the amount of service or product demand. Hence, in traditional maximum flow problem, we assume that the dema...
متن کاملCompetition among providers in loss networks
Communication networks are becoming ubiquitous and more and more competitive among revenue-maximizing providers, operating on potentially different technologies. In this paper, we propose to analyze the competition of providers playing with access prices and fighting for customers. Considering a slotted-time model, the part of demand exceeding capacity is lost and has to be resent. We consider ...
متن کاملPricing Optimization for Selling Reusable Resources
The market for selling reusable products is growing rapidly. Existing works for policy optimization often ignore the dynamic property of demand and the competition among providers. This paper studies service providers’ dynamic pricing in consideration of market competition and dynamics, which makes two key contributions. First, we propose a comprehensive model that takes into account the dynami...
