Parallel Batch Scheduling of Deteriorating Jobs with Release Dates and Rejection
نویسندگان
چکیده
We consider the unbounded parallel batch scheduling with deterioration, release dates, and rejection. Each job is either accepted and processed on a single batching machine, or rejected by paying penalties. The processing time of a job is a simple linear increasing function of its starting time. The objective is to minimize the sum of the makespan of the accepted jobs and the total penalty of the rejected jobs. First, we show that the problem is NP-hard in the ordinary sense. Then, we present two pseudopolynomial time algorithms and a fully polynomial-time approximation scheme to solve this problem. Furthermore, we provide an optimal O(n log n) time algorithm for the case where jobs have identical release dates.

The unbounded parallel batch machine scheduling with release dates and rejection to minimize makespan
In this paper, we consider the unbounded parallel batch machine scheduling with release dates and rejection. A job is either rejected with a certain penalty having to be paid, or accepted and processed in batches on the parallel batch machine. The processing time of a batch is defined as the longest processing time of the jobs contained in it. The objective is to minimize the sum of the makespa...

We consider the bounded single-machine parallel-batch scheduling problem with release dates and rejection. A job is either rejected, in which case a certain penalty has to be paid, or accepted and then processed on the machine. The objective is to minimize the sum of the makespan of the accepted jobs and the total penalty of the rejected jobs. When the jobs have identical release dates, we pres...
متن کاملA fuzzy mixed-integer goal programming model for a parallel machine scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times and release dates
This paper presents a new mixed-integer goal programming (MIGP) model for a parallel machine scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times and release dates. Two objectives are considered in the model to minimize the total weighted flow time and the total weighted tardiness simultaneously. Due to the com-plexity of the above model and uncertainty involved in real-world scheduling probl...
متن کاملDesign of a Hybrid Genetic Algorithm for Parallel Machines Scheduling to Minimize Job Tardiness and Machine Deteriorating Costs with Deteriorating Jobs in a Batched Delivery System
This paper studies the parallel machine scheduling problem subject to machine and job deterioration in a batched delivery system. By the machine deterioration effect, we mean that each machine deteriorates over time, at a different rate. Moreover, job processing times are increasing functions of their starting times and follow a simple linear deterioration. The objective functions are minimizin...
متن کاملApproximation schemes for minimizing total (weighted) completion time with release dates on a batch machine
A batch machine is a machine that can process a number of jobs simultaneously as a batch, and the processing time of a batch is equal to the longest processing time of the jobs assigned to it. In this paper we present a polynomial time approximation scheme (PTAS) for scheduling a batch machine to minimize the total completion time with job release dates. Also, we present a fully polynomial time...
