Integrated Networking and Scheduling for Centralized Transaction Servers

چکیده

Network-attached storage devices provide ways to build large scalable file systems that distribute data and load across multiple network nodes. Even though data is distributed, most file systems require a shared server to manage centralized data for clients. This paper investigates ways to use a scheduler to support latency guarantees for requests to a centralized data server. We develop a simple model for the server, and use a simulator to test scheduling strategies. We find that to guarantee average latency we may use measured latency as criteria for admission control. This method has the additional advantage of automatically adapting queue lengths to load. Using measured latency as an input for scheduling priority also provides an efficient scheduling policy.

Integrated modeling and solving the resource allocation problem and task scheduling in the cloud computing environment

Cloud computing is considered to be a new service provider technology for users and businesses. However, the cloud environment is facing a number of challenges. Resource allocation in a way that is optimum for users and cloud providers is difficult because of lack of data sharing between them. On the other hand, job scheduling is a basic issue and at the same time a big challenge in reaching hi...

Transaction Overhead Reduction by Server Localization in Bank Database Management Systems

Server localization refers to introduction of local servers that are connected to a main centralized server. The banking system currently prevailing in the country maintains two databases: one for transaction management while the other is maintained for backup. The transactional data from various branches across the country is maintained by a centralized server. In this scenario, given one cent...

A CSA Method for Assigning Client to Servers in Online Social Networks

This paper deals with the problem of user-server assignment in online social network systems. Online social network applications such as Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram are built on an infrastructure of servers that enables them to communicate with each other. A key factor that determines the facility of communication between the users and the servers is the Expected Transmission Time (ETT). A ...

Network Algorithms and Protocol for Multimedia Servers

In this paper, we present a network service specifically designed for multimedia servers. It uses a histogram based traffic characterization and an overload control protocol to eliminate packet losses in the network while providing heterogeneous statistical QoS. The key contribution of our protocol lies in combining open-loop and feedback-based control to: (1) provide heterogeneous QoS to clien...

A Bilevel Scheduling Approach for Modeling Energy Transaction of Virtual Power Plants in Distribution Networks

By increasing the use of distributed generation (DG) in the distribution network operation, an entity called virtual power plant (VPP) has been introduced to control, dispatch and aggregate the generation of DGs, enabling them to participate either in the electricity market or the distribution network operation. The participation of VPPs in the electricity market has made challenges to fairly a...
