CCMG guidelines: prenatal and postnatal diagnostic testing for uniparental disomy.
The aim of this statement is to provide clinicians, cytogeneticists and molecular geneticists of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) a comprehensive review of the role of UPD in constitutional genetic diagnosis and to provide a guideline as to when investigation for UPD is recommended. Members of the CCMG Cytogenetics, Molecular Genetics, Clinical Practice, and Prenatal Diagnosis...
متن کاملThe acidic nature of the CcmG redox-active center is important for cytochrome c maturation in Escherichia coli.
Cytochrome c biogenesis in Escherichia coli is a complex process requiring at least eight genes (ccmABCDEFGH). One of these genes, ccmG, encodes a thioredoxin-like protein with unusually specific redox activity. Here, we investigate the basis for CcmG function and demonstrate the importance of acidic residues surrounding the redox-active center.
متن کاملThe Escherichia coli CcmG protein fulfils a specific role in cytochrome c assembly.
In Escherichia coli K-12, c-type cytochromes are synthesized only during anaerobic growth with trimethylamine-N-oxide, nitrite or low concentrations of nitrate as the terminal electron acceptor. A thioredoxin-like protein, CcmG, is one of 12 proteins required for their assembly in the periplasm. Its postulated function is to reduce disulphide bonds formed between correctly paired cysteine resid...
متن کاملThe active-site cysteines of the periplasmic thioredoxin-like protein CcmG of Escherichia coli are important but not essential for cytochrome c maturation in vivo.
A new member of the family of periplasmic protein thiol:disulfide oxidoreductases, CcmG (also called DsbE), was characterized with regard to its role in cytochrome c maturation in Escherichia coli. The CcmG protein was shown to be membrane bound, facing the periplasm with its C-terminal, hydrophilic domain. A chromosomal, nonpolar in-frame deletion in ccmG resulted in the complete absence of al...

PURPOSE AND SCOPE The aim of this Position Statement is to provide recommendations for Canadian medical geneticists, clinical laboratory geneticists, genetic counsellors and other physicians regarding the use of genome-wide sequencing of germline DNA in the context of clinical genetic diagnosis. This statement has been developed to facilitate the clinical translation and development of best pra...
