Maize phyllosphere microbial community niche development

چکیده
The phyllosphere hosts a variety of microorganisms, including Background bacteria, which can play a positive role in the success of the host plant. Bacterial communities in the phylloplane are influenced by both biotic and abiotic factors, including host plant surface topography and chemistry, which change in concert with microbial communities as the plant leaves develop and age. : We examined how the L. leaf microbial community Methods Zea mays structure changed with plant age. Ribosomal spacer length and scanning electron microscopic imaging strategies were used to assess microbial community composition across maize plant ages, using a novel staggered experimental design. : Significant changes in community composition were observed for Results both molecular and imaging analyses, and the two analysis methods provided complementary information about bacterial community structure within each leaf developmental stage. : Both taxonomic and cell-size trait patterns provided evidence for Conclusions niche-based contributions to microbial community development on leaves. 1,2 2,3 2 2,4

متن کاملTemplate Preparation Affects 16S rRNA High-Throughput Sequencing Analysis of Phyllosphere Microbial Communities
Phyllosphere microbial communities are highly diverse and have important ecological implications; in that context, bacterial identification based on 16S rRNA genes is an important research issue. In studies of phyllosphere microbial communities, microporous filtration and centrifugation are used to collect microorganism samples, but it is unclear which one has a better collection efficiency. In...
متن کاملPhyllosphere Microbiota Composition and Microbial Community Transplantation on Lettuce Plants Grown Indoors
UNLABELLED The aerial surfaces of plants, or phyllosphere, are microbial habitats important to plant and human health. In order to accurately investigate microbial interactions in the phyllosphere under laboratory conditions, the composition of the phyllosphere microbiota should be representative of the diversity of microorganisms residing on plants in nature. We found that Romaine lettuce grow...
