چکیده

The effects of truncating the (approximate) scattering transform in the D-bar reconstruction method for 2-D electrical impedance tomography are studied. The method is based on Nachman’s uniqueness proof [Ann. of Math. 143 (1996)] that applies to twice differentiable conductivities. However, the reconstruction algorithm has been successfully applied to experimental data, which can be characterized as piecewise smooth conductivities. The truncation is shown to stabilize the method against measurement noise and to have a smoothing effect on the reconstructed conductivity. Thus the truncation can be interpreted as regularization of the D-bar method. Numerical reconstructions are presented demonstrating that features of discontinuous high contrast conductivities can be recovered using the D-bar method. Further, a new connection between Calderón’s linearization method and the D-bar method is established, and the two methods are compared numerically and analytically. Version 33, Apr. 7, 2006 Jen

A D-bar Algorithm with a Priori Information for 2-d Electrical Impedance Tomography

A method for including a priori information in the 2-D D-bar algorithm is presented. Two methods of assigning conductivity values to the prior are presented, each corresponding to a different scenario on applications. The method is tested on several numerical examples with and without noise and is demonstrated to be highly effective in improving the spatial resolution of the D-bar method.

A Hybrid Segmentation and D-Bar Method for Electrical Impedance Tomography

The regularized D-bar method for electrical impedance tomography (EIT) provides a rigorous mathematical approach for solving the full nonlinear inverse problem directly, i.e., without iterations. It is based on a low-pass filtering in the (nonlinear) frequency domain. However, the resulting D-bar reconstructions are inherently smoothed, leading to a loss of edge distinction. In this paper, a no...
