Morpholine antifungals and their mode of action.

چکیده
Introduction The fungicidal properties of morpholines with large ring N-substituents was first reported in 1965 [ l ] and since then several (Fig. 1) have been marketed for the control of plant pathogenic fungi. Dodemorph, tridemorph, aldimorph and fenpropimorph are used to control powdery mildews and have both protective and eradicant properties. They are systemic in action, being absorbed through the roots and leaves and translocated in the apoplast. Fenpropimorph has all the properties of the N-alkylmorpholines but is superior in that it also controls rusts and has a strong fumigant action because of its volatility. Amorolfine, though highly active against phytopathogenic fungi, is under clinical evaluation as a topical antifungal for human infections caused by dermatophytes. Fenpropimorph and amorolfine are used as racemic mixtures but in both cases the S-enantiomer is significantly more active than the R enantiomer [ 2, 31.

Antifungal agents: mode of action, mechanisms of resistance, and correlation of these mechanisms with bacterial resistance.
The increased use of antibacterial and antifungal agents in recent years has resulted in the development of resistance to these drugs. The significant clinical implication of resistance has led to heightened interest in the study of antimicrobial resistance from different angles. Areas addressed include mechanisms underlying this resistance, improved methods to detect resistance when it occurs,...
متن کاملSynthesis of New β-Lactams Bearing the Biologically Important Morpholine Ring and POM Analyses of Their Antimicrobial and Antimalarial Activities
Some new b-lactams bearing biologically important morpholine ring have been synthesized by acylation of amino b-lactams in the presence of morpholine-4-carbonyl chloride. These novel β-lactams were prepared under mild reaction conditions without any solvent in short reaction times. Their biological activities have been examined against microbial agents such as Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus),...
متن کاملNew Strategy for the Synthesis of Morpholine Cores: Synthesis from N-Propargylamines
Functionalized morpholines have attracted much attention due to their potential biological activities. Despite the wide importance of morpholine derivatives in drug design of various pharmacological agents, the development of new approaches to their synthesis remains relatively unexplored. Given the low cost and easy availability of N-propargylamines, the synthesis of functionalized morphol...

R.J. Hay, Department of Dermatology, Guys Hospital, London SE1 9RT, London, UK The present comprehensive range of antifungal drugs used in the treatment of superficial mycoses is by no means ideal. There are, for instance, certain infections which are refractory to existing therapy such as chronic tinea pedis due to Trichophyton rubrum, which has a 60–70% relapse rate whatever the primary thera...
