چکیده

Human leukocyte antigen G (HLA-G) is a nonclassic major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecule that functions as an immunomodulatory molecule capable of protecting fetal tissues from the maternal immune system. The relevance of HLA-G in other contexts was investigated soon afterward. Numerous studies have sought (and some have shown) the relevance of HLA-G in pathologic conditions, such as transplantation, autoimmunity, and cancer and hematologic malignancies. One of the main goals of the current research on HLA-G is now to use it in the clinic, either for diagnosis or as a therapeutic tool/target. For this, precise knowledge on the nature and functions of HLA-G is critical. We highlight here what we consider are recent key basic findings on the immunomodulatory function of HLA-G. These strengthen the case for considering HLA-G as clinically relevant. (Blood. 2008;111:4862-4870)

HLA-G بررسی ساختار و عملکرد

HLA-G is a nonclassical HLA class Ib, which is located on chromosome 6 (6p.21.3). In contrast to HLA class I molecules, HLA-G has restricted polymorphism. Expression of this molecule in the physiological conditions limits to certain tissues such as thymus, cornea, nail matrix, trophoblast and pancreas. Up to now, 50 alleles of HLA-G molecules have been discovered with 16 distinct functional pro...

Serum HLA-G levels in Pregnant Women with Preeclampsia in Third Trimester

Background and purpose: Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication with multiorgan involvement caused by the loss of mother's immune tolerance to the placenta and fetus antigen or the wrong adjustment. HLA-G is an immune-modulatory molecule and this study aimed at investigating the levels of HLA-G and its association with incidence and severity of preeclampsia in pregnant women in third trimester...

بررسی بیان آنتی ژن لکوسیت انسانی-G و اینترلوکین-10 در بیماران مبتلا به HIV در مقایسه با گروه کنترل

Background and purpose: HILA-G is an immunomodulatory molecule and alteration of its expression is prevalent during viral infections. HLA-G expression in HIV-positive patients has been inconsistent between different studies and some suggest that Interleukin-10 (IL-10) influences the expression of HLA-G. The aim of this research was to investigate the expression of IL-10 in HIV-positive patients...

P-203: Investigating Association of HLA-G Gene Polymorphisms and Failed Implantation in Human Embryos

Background: HLA-G is a non-classical human leukocyte antigen expressed primarily in fetal tissues at the maternal-fetal interface. The unique structure of HLA-G molecule permits a restricted peptide presentation and allows the modulation of the immune system. There is now general agreement that HLA-G is an important immunotolerant molecule with the capability of inhibiting immune cell functions...
