Equation of Motion for a Spin Vortex and Geometric Force

چکیده
The Hamiltonian equation of motion is studied for a vortex occuring in 2dimesional Heisenberg ferromagnet of anisotropic type by starting with the effective action for the spin field formulated by the Bloch (or spin) coherent state. The resultant equation shows the existence of a geometric force that is analogous to the so-called Magnus force in superfluid. This specific force plays a significant role for a quantum dynamics for a single vortex, e.g, the determination of the bound state of the vortex trapped by a pinning force arising from the interaction of the vortex with an impurity.

Vortex Motion for the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert Equation with Spin-Transfer Torque
We study the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation for the dynamics of a magnetic vortex system. We include the spin-torque effects of an applied spin current, and rigorously derive an equation of motion (“Thiele equation”) for vortices if the current is not too large. Our method of proof strongly utilizes the geometry of the problem in order to obtain the necessary energy estimates.
متن کاملMotion of a Vortex Filament in Superfluid He: Effects of Friction Force in the Hall-Vinen Phenomenological Model
The motion of a vortex filament in superfluid He is considered by using the Hall-Vinen phenomenological model for the scattering process between the vortex and thermal excitations in liquid He. The Hall-Vinen equations are formulated first in the intrinsic geometric parameter space to obtain insights into the physical implications of one aspect of the friction term, associated with the friction...

متن کاملCan the History Force be Neglected for the Motion of Particles at High Subcritical Reynolds Number Range?
In the present work, the motion of metallic and plastic particles of 5 mm diameter falling in a quiescent fluid is investigated experimentally. The goal of this investigation is to examine the effect of history force acting on a particle in a range of Reynolds numbers between 1000 and 5000. The instantaneous position of the particle was recorded using a high - speed camera (500 to 1000 frames p...
متن کاملMagnetic Vortex Mass in 2d Easy-plane Magnets
Nonlinear vortex excitations in models for layered or two-dimensional (2D) magnets [1] have attracted much study not only for their role in the thermodynamics of the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless vortex-unbinding transition [2,3], but more recently because their microscopic dynamic behavior is not fully understood. The dynamics of individual vortices continues under study for ferromagnets (FM...
