Evaluation of a Small Commercial Prescriptive Lighting Program
نویسنده
چکیده
In response to Californias electricity supply and demand crisis of 2001, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) implemented a portfolio of programs funded by the California Legislature, through Senate Bill 5X. As part of its SB5X portfolio, SMUD implemented a Small Commercial Prescriptive Lighting program. SMUDs initial goal for the program was to achieve installation 450 installations by December 31, 2002. SMUDs initial targets were to reduce summer capacity by 1.8 MW and reduce energy consumption by 6.7 GWh/yr. An evaluation study was undertaken to estimate the actual energy savings and demand reduction achieved by the program. This paper describes the study methodology, discuss the success of the program, including participant satisfaction and present the gross and net energy savings and demand reduction evaluation results. The paper also presents the savings results in detail and discusses challenges encountered during the evaluation.

Intermittent Photoperiod Schedule does not Influence Brain and Serum Melatonin and Selected Serum Antioxidant Enzymes Activity in Broiler Chickens
This study evaluated the effect of the intermittent light program on serum and brain melatonin concentrations, antioxidant enzyme activities, and homocysteine concentration in broiler chickens. A total of 60 one-day-old broiler chickens (Cobb 500) were distributed in three light-proof controlled rooms (20 chicks per room). All birds were reared in continuous light until 3 days of age. Then, chi...
متن کاملBlack-Box Optimization of Lighting Simulation in Architectural Design
This paper deals with an application of optimization in architectural design. Formally, we consider the problem of optimizing a function that can only be evaluated through an expensive oracle. We assume that the analytical expression of the function is unknown and first-order information is not available. This situation frequently occurs when each function evaluation relies on the output of a c...

Public lighting networks are constructed and maintained to provide social security and traffic safety. Due to the expansion of cities, the development in public lighting is inevitable. In addition to new investment, the public lighting service and maintenance program imposes high costs on distribution companies. Since performance assessment methods focus on a combination of key performance indi...

Background and aims: Workplaces with poor lighting conditions often created occupational accidents or illness. This occurs because light cause visual and nonvisual effects on numerous physiological variables, such as the human sleep-wake cycle and cognitive performance. Indoor lighting conditions, as one aspect of the work environment, Influence on occupant’s mood, well-being, task performance ...
