Robust Control of Continuous Fermentation Processes Described by Monod-type Model with Delay

Discrete nonlinear problem for control synthesis of continuous fermentation processes is formulated and method for robust control synthesis is developed. The method consists of an optimal robust control design and an input/output linearization via nonlinear state feedback. The obtained total control is a robust one. It linearizes the nominal nonlinear system, determines global asymptotic stability of the closed loop system and guarantees the performance bound cost corresponding to a used quadratic criterion. The method is demonstrated by numerical simulations on the example of a Saccaromyces cerevisiae fermentation, described by Monod-type model with delay. Copyright©2003 IFAC
