The operation of global supply chains is challenging due to the complexity in product and information flows, diversity in sites, localisation and processes and the information processing needed for coordination and control. In order to be competitive, manufacturing supply networks should strive to use information to create transparent and visible demand patterns and to create an efficient balance of supply and demand by an integrated and coordinated manufacturing planning and control system. In this article, a framework for developing global control centres (GCCs) is presented that includes a global control model, performance measurement system, information and communications technology (ICT) and organisation of roles and responsibilities. The framework has been further tested in a company for realising a GCC. The main challenges for realisation include control issues, information handling and ICT and management of change and organisational resistance. 1. Introduction In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in supply chain management in both research and industry. In an operations management context, the supply chain perspective basically implies to expand the focus from internal operations in a single site/ company to operations in a multi-site supply network. The main idea is to optimise supply chain operations in order to improve the overall performance. For manufacturing planning and control (MPC), the supply chain perspective imposes challenges regarding coordination and integration (Vollmann et al. 2005). Lack of information sharing and transparency is often recognised as a key issue for companies that seek to increase coordination and integration in their supply chains. A highly transparent supply chain, where relevant information can be accessed in real time, can ensure that decision making and execution are consistent throughout the supply chain (Strandhagen et al. 2006). A few attempts have been …

Governance and Capacity to Manage Resilience of Health Systems: Towards a New Conceptual Framework
The term resilience has dominated the discourse among health systems researchers since 2014 and the onset of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. There is wide consensus that the global community has to help build more resilient health systems. But do we really know what resilience means, and do we all have the same vision of resilience? The present paper presents a new conceptual framework on go...

Abstract: The supply chain consists of various subsystems such as manufacturing systems, delivery systems, distribution systems, and transport systems. In particular, the manufacturing system plays an essential role but it is so complex that it is hard to predict and optimize the global supply chain. To optimize and execute the manufacturing system, the shop floor control system (SFCS) has been...
متن کاملHoney global supply chain network design using fuzzy optimization approach
From the past, honey has been known as a healthy product for human life. Iran has a suitable climate for beekeeping and is among the high-ranked countries in honey production. However, due to failure to comply with quality issues, export of honey from Iran is associated with many problems. According to this issue, this paper presents a robust possibilistic optimization network design model for ...
متن کاملCharles Møller The Conceptual Framework for Business Process Innovation - Towards a Research Program on Global
Introduction This paper proposes a research program on Business Process Innovation: Towards Global Supply Chain Intelligence. Few words are more ubiquitous in business or society today than " innovation ". This reflects that businesses are striving for ways to survive and thrive in an increasingly complex and connected world (IBM 2006). Most industrial supply chains today are globally scattered...
متن کاملPerformance indicators for supply chain resilience: review and conceptual framework
In the current competitive and dynamic market, customer demands and interests are changing continuously, and hence, risk of disruption in the supply chain is also increasing. To be successful in this scenario, supply chain of a firm should be resilient. Most of the firms realize that with a specific end goal to develop a resilient supply chain, there is a need for assessment of performance. The...
