Steps towards Scenario-Based Programming with a Natural Language Interface

چکیده
Programming, i.e., the act of creating a runnable artifact applicable to multiple inputs/tasks, is an art that requires substantial knowledge of programming languages and development techniques. As the use of software is becoming far more prevalent in all aspects of life, programming has changed and the need to program has become relevant to a much broader community. In the interest of broadening the pool of potential programmers, we believe that a natural language interface to an intuitive programming language may have a major role to play. In this paper, we discuss recent work on carrying out scenario-based programming directly in a controlled natural language, and sketch possible

Modelface: an application programming interface (API) for homology modeling studies using Modeller software
An interactive application, Modelface, was presented for Modeller software based on windows platform. The application is able to run all steps of homology modeling including pdb to fasta generation, running clustal, model building and loop refinement. Other modules of modeler including energy calculation, energy minimization and the ability to make single point mutations in the PDB structures a...

متن کاملEvaluating a Natural Language Interface for Behavioral Programming
In behavioral programming, scenarios are used to program the behavior of reactive systems. Behavioral programming originated in the language of live sequence charts (LSC), a visual formalism based on multi-modal scenarios, and supported by a mechanism for directly executing a system described by a set of LSCs. In an exploratory experiment, we compare programming using LSCs with procedural progr...
متن کاملScenario-Based Analysis of Component Compositions
The behavior of a system comprised of collaborating components tend to be difficult to analyze, especially if the system consists of a large number of concurrently operating components. We propose a scenario-based approach for analyzing component compositions that is based on Use Case Maps (UCMs), but is extended with a few additional constructs for modeling component interfaces and connections...
متن کاملShow-and-tell Play-in: Combining Natural Language with User Interaction for Specifying Behavior
In search of improving the ways to create meaningful systems from requirements specifications, this paper combines the showing and telling of how a system should behave. Using scenario-based programming and the language of live sequence charts, we suggest how user interaction with the system and user written requirements in natural language can interleave to create specifications through an int...
