Association between Gram-Negative Enteric Rods, Porphyromonas gingivalis and Changes in Clinical Parameters in Chronic Periodontitis: An Observational Study

چکیده
The correlation between Gram negative enteric rods and Porphyromonas gingivalis in periodontal diseases has received little attention in the literature. The objective of this study was to investigate the association between gram negative enteric rods and Porphyromonas gingivalis and changes in clinical parameters in chronic periodontitis subjects. Occurrence of Gram negative enteric rods, Porphyromonas gingivalis and clinical parameters were examined in 30 subjects with chronic periodontitis. Sub gingival plaque samples were collected from the deepest periodontal pocket and transported in thyoglycolate broth and organisms were cultured.Chisquare, Mann-Whitney and Spearman rank correlation coefficient were used to assess the clinical data.Gram negative enteric rods, Porphyromonas gingivalis were detected in 20 subjects. There were significantly positive correlations between Gram negative enteric rods, Porphyromonas gingivalis and bleeding on probing, probing depth, clinical attachment loss. This study suggests that presence of enteric rods and Porphyromonas gingivalis were related to adverse periodontal conditions. These results could have an impact on periodontal treatment and should be taken into account in the mechanical and antimicrobial treatment of periodontal disease in some populations.

The association between Gram negative enteric rods and Porphyromonas gingivalis in periodontal diseases has received little attention in the literature. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the associations between Gram negative enteric rods, Porphyromonas gingivalis and clinical parameters of periodontal disease. The prevalence of Gram-negative enteric rods and P. gingivalis were exa...
متن کاملDemographic, clinical, and microbial aspects of chronic and aggressive periodontitis in Colombia: a multicenter study.
BACKGROUND The microbial profile of periodontal disease varies among different human populations. This study evaluated the demographic, clinical, and microbiologic aspects of periodontitis in a multigeographic sample in Colombia. METHODS Three hundred twenty-five patients with chronic periodontitis (CP), 158 patients with aggressive periodontitis (AgP), and 137 healthy-gingivitis controls fro...

Background and Aims : Antibiotics are commonly used for controlling the growth of porphyromons gingivalis (P.g) which is one of the most important etiologic factors in the periodontal diseases. Different side effects of synthetics and chemical drugs such as increasing the drug resistancy in the human pathogens have led to study on the herbal antibacterial effect. The aim of this study was to ...
متن کاملAntibody reactive with Porphyromonas gingivalis hemagglutinin in chronic and generalized aggressive periodontitis.
BACKGROUND Porphyromonas gingivalis, a black-pigmented, gram-negative anaerobe, is found in periodontitis lesions and its presence in subgingival plaque significantly increases the risk for periodontitis. We have previously shown that patients with aggressive forms of periodontitis that are seropositive for P. gingivalis have less attachment loss than those that are seronegative. This suggests ...
