Gauge strata and particle generations

چکیده
Phenomenological evidence suggests the existence of non-trivial background fields in the QCD vacuum. On the other hand SU(3) gauge theory possessses three different classes of both non-generic and non-trivial strata that may be used as classical backgrounds. It is suggested that this threefold multiplicity of non-trivial vacua may be related to the existence of particle generations, which would then find an explanation in the framework of the standard model. Within the limits of its accuracy, all experimental data known so far is consistent with a SU(3) c × SU(2) L × U(1) Y gauge theory as a model for particle physics. However, several features of the observed low energy phenomena remain to be explained. Among these the generation structure, in the quark and lepton spectra, stands as one of the most intriguing puzzles. Several schemes, going beyond the gauge group of the standard model, have been proposed to describe the existence of particle generations, ranging from family groups, horizontal symmetries, radial excitations, enlarged groups, preon models to superstrings. Contrary to this beyond the standard model trend, I will argue in this letter that, by itself, the gauge group of the standard model already contains a multiplicity in the space of its solutions that is reminiscent of the particle generations structure. For definiteness I will consider physical states as being represented by quantum fluctuations around classical solutions and physical processes as 1

Second Loop Corrections from Superheavy Gauge Sector to Gauge Coupling Unification
We deal with extensions of the Standard Model by adding horizontal interactions between particle generations. We calculate two loop corrections caused by the presence of coupling between hypothetical horizontal gauge bosons and matter field, both at low and high energy. It is proved numerically that the coupling of such extra bosons does not affect the positive features of unified and extended ...
متن کاملHow to create a universe
The purpose of this paper is (i) to expound the specification of a universe, according to those parts of mathematical physics which have been experimentally and observationally verified in our own universe; and (ii) to expound the possible means of creating a universe in the laboratory. 1 Universe specification According to modern mathematical theoretical physics, the specification of a physica...
متن کاملSystematic study of fermion masses and mixing angles in horizontal SU(2) gauge theory.
Despite its great success in explaining the basic interactions of nature, the standard model suffers from an inability to explain the observed masses of the fundamental particles and the weak mixing angles between them. We shall survey a set of possible extensions to the standard model, employing an SU(2) " horizontal " gauge symmetry between the particle generations, to see what light they can...
متن کامل5 The Flavour of Gravity
By attaching five (complex) anticommuting property coordinates to the four (real) commuting space-time ones, it is possible to accommodate all the known fundamental particles in their three generations. A general relativistic extension to space-time-property can be carried out such that the gauge fields find their place in the space-property sector and the Higgs scalars in the property-property...
