Flux motion in anisotropic type-II superconductors near Hc2.

چکیده
Flux motion in anisotropic type-II superconductors is studied in the framework of the timedependent Ginzburg-Landau theory. Expressions for the Hux-6ow resistivity tensor (including all the longitudinal and Hall elements) are obtained for the case that the applied magnetic field H is parallel to one of the principal axes of the sample and H is near the upper critical Beld H 2. A simple method is proposed for obtaining the anisotropy ratios from the H dependences of the longitudinal resistivities.

We study the flux-flow Hall effect and thermomagnetic transport near the upper critical field Hc2 in extreme type-II superconductors starting from a suitable generalization of the time dependent Ginzburg-Landau equations. We explicitly incorporate the effects of backflow into the calculations of the local electric field and current, leading to a current which is properly divergenceless. The Hal...

A generalized form of Ginzburg–Landau theory is proposed which explains the non-hexagonal flux-line lattice found both in metallic and magnetic superconductors without invoking any anisotropic material-dependent properties. The Gibbs energy density postulated for magnetic superconductors (g) is of the form g(B, T ) = α|ψ |2 + 1 2β|ψ |4 + [1/(2m)]|(−ih̄∇−2eA)ψ |2 + ∫ (B/μ0 − Mions) · dB − (B/μ0 −...

This paper reviews the potential of the newly discovered and unexpected 39 K superconductor MgB2 as a material for accelerator magnet strands. Unlike the high temperature cuprate superconductors, intergranular current flow in MgB2 is not obstructed by weak links, removing one serious obstacle to the fabrication of wires. The critical current density Jc exceeds 10 5 A/cm in 1 T field at 4.2 K an...
متن کاملAnisotropic diamagnetic response in type-II superconductors with gap and Fermi-surface anisotropies.
The effects of anisotropic gap structures on a diamagnetic response are investigated in order to demonstrate that the field-angle-resolved magnetization [ML(chi)] measurement can be used as a spectroscopic method to detect gap structures. Our microscopic calculation based on the quasiclassical Eilenberger formalism reveals that ML(chi) in a superconductor with a fourfold gap displays a fourfold...
متن کاملThe Phase Transition to a Square Vortex Lattice in Type-II Superconductors with Fourfold Anisotropy
We investigate the stability of the square vortex lattice which has been recently observed in experiments on the borocarbide family of superconductors. Taking into account the tetragonal symmetry of these systems, we add fourfold symmetric fourth-derivative terms to the Ginzburg-Landau(GL) free energy. At Hc2 these terms may be treated perturbatively to lowest order to locate the transition fro...
