چکیده
Kennedy (1965) reported small clear strength values for most Canadian species. The average value for modulus of rupture for Douglas Fir based upon 1057 specimens was reported to be 7540 p. s. (52 026 kN/m2 ) when tested in the green (wet) condition while the average value for air-dried specimens adjusted to 12% moisture content was found to be 12,850 p.s.i. (88 665 kN/m2 ), an increase of 71%. The modulus of elasticity for the same specimens was 1.61 X 10 6 and 1.96 X 10 6 p. s. i. (11.1 X 10 6 and 13.5 X 10 6 kN/m 2 ) for wet and dry conditions, respectively, an increase of 22%.

Strength Properties of Low Moisture Content Southern Pine
Contemporary engineering design practices in the United States require information on the strength of lumber for moisture contents as low as 4 percent. Efficient design of experimental studies on lumber properties at low moisture contents requires a better understanding of the basic mechanisms controlling moisture-property relationships. Studies were conducted on the effect of moisture content ...

This study investigated the size effect on the bending strength (modulus of rupture-MOR) of dimension lumber of Northeast China larch (Larix gmelinii); providing a basis for the further application in light wood frame construction. Experimental and statistical evaluations were conducted on the bending strength. A total of 2409 full-size dimension lumber samples were tested by static bending tes...

By the lamination process evaluated, 60 percent of total 108 volume ended as kiln-dry, end-trimmed, sized, salable 2 by 4's-approximately 50 percent more than that achieved by conventional bandsawing of matched lop. Moreover, modulus of elasticity of the laminated 2 by 4's (adjusted to 12 percent moisture content) averaged 1,950,000 psi compared to 1,790,000 for the sawn 2 by 4's. Allowable fib...
متن کاملPalm kernel fruit fiber reinforced gypsum-cement based wall panels: It’s physical and mechanical characteristics
Agricultural waste fibers have been found to be suitable as reinforcement in cement-based composites, but studies on oil palm fiber as reinforcement in gypsum-cement wall panels are scarce. A mixture of two equal weights of gypsum and cement, with water-binder ratios of 0.45 and 0.55 were prepared. In each mix a varying percentage of fiber contents of 2%, 3% and 4% by weight of the binders were...
