Miller Fisher Syndrome – An Atypical Clinical Presentation

چکیده
Miller Fisher Syndrome (MFS) is an acquired disease of nervous system which is considered as a rare variant of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). Collier first described in 1932 as a variant of the Guillain-Barre syndrome with the triad of ataxia, areflexia and ophthalmoplegia. Charles Miller Fisher in 1956 described 3 patients with the symptoms of sluggish pupillary reflexes, acute external ophthalmoplegia, ataxia and areflexia [1], who were recovered spontaneously. MFS also has rarer variants. Here we are presenting a case of MFS having distal paresthesias, weakness of all four limbs, ptosis along with ataxia, areflexia, ophthalmoplegia conservatively managed. The patient gradually improved in symptoms including power, ataxia, ophthalmoplegia without intravenous immunoglobulin. After 20 days the patient was discharged from hospital with complete recovery.

A Case of Miller Fisher Syndrome and Literature Review
Miller Fisher syndrome (MFS) was first recognized by James Collier in 1932 as a clinical triad of ataxia, areflexia, and ophthalmoplegia. Later, it was described in 1956 by Charles Miller Fisher as a possible variant of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). Here, we write a case of a patient with atypical presentation of this clinical triad as the patient presented with double vision initially due to...

BACKGROUND A description of the diagnostic features of Miller Fisher syndrome. CASE PRESENTATION The clinical presentation, investigation, and subsequent progress of our patient with clinical unilateral external ophthalmoplegia. CONCLUSION Our case demonstrates the presentation of clinical unilateral external ophthalmoplegia as part of the full triad of Miller Fisher syndrome.
متن کاملMiller Fisher syndrome--an uncommon clinical presentation.
Miller Fisher syndrome is an uncommon disease and it is a variant of Guillain-Barre syndrome. Miller Fisher syndrome also has rarer variants. Combined features of classic Guillain-Barre syndrome and Miller Fisher syndrome are uncommon. Here we are reporting a case of Miller Fisher variant with Guillain-Barre syndrome overlap in which ataxia, are flexia, oculomotor disturbance and limb weakness ...
متن کاملYet Another Atypical Presentation of Anti-GQ1b Antibody Syndrome
Variants of Guillain-Barre syndrome such as Bickerstaff encephalitis and Miller-Fisher syndrome have been reported. We report a 15-year-old boy who presented, after a prodromal illness, with 3-day progressive limb weakness, diplopia, and acute urinary retention. Clinically, he had horizontal gaze-evoked and upbeat nystagmus, bilateral extensor plantars in addition to quadriparesis and areflexia...
متن کاملAtypical Miller Fisher Syndrome with Anisocoria and Rapidly Fluctuating Pupillary Diameter
Miller Fisher syndrome is a variant of Guillain-Barre syndrome characterized by the classic triad of ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and areflexia. Pupillary involvement is common in MFS and has been reported in 35-42% of MFS patients. Although case reports have discussed isolated ophthalmoplegia as a presentation of MFS, anisocoria and rapid fluctuation of pupillary diameter have not been reported in...
