چکیده

BACKGROUND We conducted a meta-analysis to assess the association between polymorphisms of GSTM1 null genotype and coronary artery disease (CAD) risk. MATERIAL AND METHODS Published literature from PubMed, EMBASE, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were retrieved before March 2014. All studies reporting adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of CAD risk were included. RESULTS A total of 13 case-control studies, including 5453 cases and 5068 controls, were collected. There was a significant association between GSTM1 null genotype and CAD risk (adjusted OR=1.26; 95% CI, 1.11-1.43; I^2=3%). When stratified by ethnicity, a significantly elevated risk was observed in whites. In the subgroup analysis according to disease type, a significantly increased myocardial infarction (MI) risk was observed. Subgroup analysis of smoking status showed an increased CAD risk in smokers. CONCLUSIONS Our results indicate that GSTM1 null genotype is associated with an increased CAD risk.

Genetic polymorphisms of glutathione S-transferase genes GSTM1, GSTT1 and risk of coronary heart disease.

To clarify the role of glutathione S-transferases (GSTs; GSTM1 and GSTT1) status in susceptibility to coronary heart disease (CHD), a meta-analysis of published studies was performed. A total of 19 studies including 8020 cases and 11 501 controls were included in this meta-analysis. In a combined analysis, the relative risks for CHD of the GSTM1 null and GSTT1 null polymorphisms were 1.47 [95% ...

The association between NFKB1 -94ATTG ins/del and NFKB1A -826C/T genetic variations and coronary artery disease risk

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is considered as a chronic inflammatory disease initiated from early childhood. Nuclear factor κB (NF κB) and κB1A (NF κB1A) are the key regulators of inflammatory responses. The NFKB1 -94ATTG ins/del and NFKB1A -826C/T polymorphisms may contribute to the development of CAD.  The aim of the present study was to investigate the association of these polymorphisms wit...

GSTM1 and GSTT1 null polymorphisms and susceptibility to anti-tuberculosis drug-induced liver injury: a meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND Published data on the association between GSTM1 and GSTT1 polymorphisms and risk of anti-tuberculosis drug-induced liver injury (ATDILI) are inconclusive. OBJECTIVE To derive a more precise estimation of the relationship, a meta-analysis on this topic was performed. DESIGN PubMed, Medline, EMBASE and Chinese national knowledge infrastructure were searched for studies on the asso...

Analysis of the association Hind III Polymorphism of Lipoprotein Lipase gene on the risk of coronary artery disease

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of death and disability around the world. Interaction between genetic and environmental factors determines susceptibility of an individual to develop coronary artery disease . Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) play an important role in the metabolism of HDL-C ( High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol ), LDL-C (Low Density Lipoprotein Ch...

GSTM1 null genotype and gastric cancer risk in the Chinese population: an updated meta-analysis and review

Although a number of studies have been conducted on the association between the GSTM1 null genotype and gastric cancer in People's Republic of China, this association remains elusive and controversial. To clarify the effects of the GSTM1 null genotype on the risk of gastric cancer, an updated meta-analysis was performed in the Chinese population. Related studies were identified from PubMed, Spr...
