symptomatic retinal astrocytic hamartomaswouldhavebeentreatmentby laser, which has the undesirable adverse effect of thermal destruction of theneurosensoryretina.Delayoftreatment,however,couldhaveresultedin vitreous hemorrhage, a possible late complicationofgrowingretinalhamartomas. Our case demonstrates the successfuloutcomeofa symptomatic astrocytic hamartoma after 1 session of PDT that resulted in the resolution ofsubretinalfluid,disappearanceoftumor vessels, and improved vision.
