چکیده

Objective This project is investigating the use of carbon nanotubes (CNT) for transparent conducting electrodes in photovoltaic applications. In order to decrease the sheet resistance, both the electronic properties of the CNTs – namely the tube conductivity and tube-to-tube contact resistance – and the sheet morphology have to be controlled. This research aims to reach this target through the development of solution-based processes to simultaneously separate metal from semiconductor nanotubes using specific surface functional groups (such as aminoand phenyl-silanes on SiO2 substrates) and control the alignment of the CNTs into bundles during spin-coating deposition. CNT doping methods are also being investigated to further improve the sheet conductivity.

SWNTs have superb electronic and mechanical properties; however, SWNTs come in different chiralities making them either metallic (MET) or semiconducting (SC). It is desirable to have only MET tubes in transparent electrode applications. We have recently developed a method to selectively separate the SC and MET SWNTs and form self sorted networks of each on different functionalized surfaces. To ...

Electrospun metal nanofiber webs as high-performance transparent electrode.

Transparent electrodes, indespensible in displays and solar cells, are currently dominated by indium tin oxide (ITO) films although the high price of indium, brittleness of films, and high vacuum deposition are limiting their applications. Recently, solution-processed networks of nanostructures such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene, and silver nanowires have attracted great attention as rep...

Towards Flexible Transparent Electrodes Based on Carbon and Metallic Materials

Flexible transparent electrodes (FTEs) with high stability and scalability are in high demand for the extremely widespread applications in flexible optoelectronic devices. Traditionally, thin films of indium thin oxide (ITO) served the role of FTEs, but film brittleness and scarcity of materials limit its further application. This review provides a summary of recent advances in emerging transpa...
