چکیده

We derive the curvature driven flow of closed-loop pore structures which arise a quasi-stationary states in the H−1 gradient flow of the Functionalized Cahn-Hilliard free energy which models amphiphilic mixtures. We extend this result to a sharp-interface reduction for the competitive evolution of disjoint collections of bilayer interfaces and closed-loop pores. In particular, for a mixture of spherical bilayers and circular, closed pores we explicitly identify two regimes: one in which spherical bilayers extinguish and the circular pores arrive at a common radius, and a complimentary regime in which spherical bilayers of differing radii stably coexist with commonradius, closed-loop, circular pores.

Amphiphilic Block Copolymer Nano-micelles: Effect of Length Ratio of the Hydrophilic Block

Block copolymer nano-micelles are especially important in cancer treatment because of their fine dimensions. In this article, three systems of amphiphilic copolymers with similar lengths and different ratios of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic chains are studied using implicit-solvent coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations. The factor fphil is defined as the ratio of the number...

Existence, bifurcation, and geometric evolution of quasi-bilayers in the multicomponent functionalized Cahn-Hilliard equation.

Multicomponent bilayer structures arise as the ubiquitous plasma membrane in cellular biology and as blends of amphiphilic copolymers used in electrolyte membranes, drug delivery, and emulsion stabilization within the context of synthetic chemistry. We present the multicomponent functionalized Cahn-Hilliard (mFCH) free energy as a model which allows competition between bilayers with distinct co...

A Green Competitive Vehicle Routing Problem under Uncertainty Solved by an Improved Differential Evolution Algorithm

Regarding the development of distribution systems in the recent decades, fuel consumption of trucks has increased noticeably, which has a huge impact on greenhouse gas emissions. For this reason, the reduction of fuel consumption has been one of the most important research areas in the last decades. The aim of this paper is to propose a robust mathematical model for a variant of a vehicle routi...

Evaluating the Growth and Evolution of Facility Management in Innovating Integrating and Aligning Business Strategies to Achieve a Competitive Advantage

The South African Facilities Management (FM) industry has seen increased operational strategy complexity from single-site contractors providing basic janitorial services to highly integrated and bundled FM service providers.  Despite these major changes, very little research has been conducted on evaluating the effectiveness of FM in innovating, integrating and aligning business strategies to a...

Geometric Interpretation of Half-Plane Capacity

Abstract Schramm-Loewner Evolution describes the scaling limits of interfaces in certain statistical mechanical systems. These interfaces are geometric objects that are not equipped with a canonical parametrization. The standard parametrization of SLE is via half-plane capacity, which is a conformal measure of the size of a set in the reference upper half-plane. This has useful harmonic and com...
