چکیده

We consider a diffusional-thermal model with twostep competitive reactions for premixed combustion wave propagation in one spatial dimension. Numerical investigation of the flame speed of the system for different fuel types shows the existence of regions where two stable travelling combustion wave solutions co-exist solutions pertaining to the fast and slow branches. A hysteresis type phenomena exists, and we show that by altering the initial conditions, one can move from one solution branch to the other. Regions of complex pulsating combustion waves were also uncovered. Keywords-two-step reactions; combustion waves; wave speed; multiplicity; hysteresis; pulsating waves

An Analytical Model for Flame Propagation through Moist Lycopodium Particles with Non-unity Lewis Number

In this investigation, the structure of one-dimensional flame propagation in uniform cloud of volatile organic particles has been analyzed in which the structure of flame is divided into three zones. The first zone is preheat zone which is divided into three subzones itself. In first subzone (heating), particle cloud heated until the moisty particles reach to vapor vaporization temperature. In ...

Heat Recirculation Effect on the Structure of Wood Dust Flame Propagation

A model for heat-recirculating micro combustor is developed. It investigates the structure of laminar, one-dimensional and steady state flame propagation in uniformly premixed wood particles with considering the effects of heat recirculation caused by configuration of micro combustor. The flame structure is divided into three regions: a preheat-devolatilization zone where the rate of the gas-ph...

Rayleigh Surface Wave Propagation in Transversely Isotropic Medium with Three-Phase-Lag Model

The present paper is dealing with the propagation of Rayleigh surface waves in a homogeneous transversely isotropic medium .This thermo-dynamical analysis is carried out in the context of three-phase-lags thermoelasticity model. Three phase lag model is very much useful in the problems of nuclear boiling, exothermic catalytic reactions, phonon-electron interactions, phonon scattering etc. The n...

Multiplicity in combustion wave behaviour for a model with competing exothermic reactions

Combustion, while being part of our everyday experience, is a complex phenomenon involving a multitude of reactions and dynamics. There is great value in understanding combustion through mathematical modelling, not only for its own sake, but also because of the applications of the developed model to combustion-based industrial processes or to that perennial environmental threat to populace, pro...

Effect of Radiation Heat Loss and Ventilation on Dust Explosions in Spherical Vessels

The flame propagation through a coal dust-air mixture in a spherical vessel was studied by means of a one-dimensional, Arrhenius-type kinetics and quasi-steady model. The model includes the evaporation of the volatile matter of dust particles into a known gaseous fuel (methane) and the single-stage reaction of the gas-phase combustion. Effect of venting devices as safety idea and the radiation ...
