چکیده

This paper is focused on the question of simulation and visualization of 3D gel and paste dynamic effects. In a first part, we introduce a 3D physically based particle (or mass-interaction) model, with a small number of masses and few powerful interaction parameters, which is able to generate the dynamic features of both gels and pastes. This model proves that the 3D mass-interaction method is relevant for the simulation of such phenomena, without an explicit knowledge of their underlying physics. In a second part, we expose an original rendering process, the Flow Structuring Method that enhances the dynamic properties of the simulation and offers a realistic visualization. This process ignores all the properties of the underlying physical model. It leads to a reconstruction of the spatial structure of the gel (or paste) flow only through an analysis of the output of the simulation which is a set of unorganized points moving in a 3D space. Finally, the paper presents realistic renderings obtained by using implicit surfaces and ray-tracing techniques on the Structured Flow previously obtained.

From granular avalanches to fluid turbulences through oozing pastes. A mesoscopic physically-based particle model

In this paper, we describe how we can precisely produce complex and various dynamic morphological features such as structured and chaotic features which occur in sand pilings (piles, avalanches, internal collapses, arches) , in flowing fluids (laminar flowing, Kelvin-Helmholtz and Von Karmann eddies), and in cohesive pastes (twist-and-turn oozing and packing) using only a single unified model, ...

River Flow Simulation Using SWAT Physically Based Model in Barandouzchay of Urmia Lake River Basin

Nowadays, there are too many models in the world for simulation of hydrological processes, such as the SWAT physically based model. The SWAT model is a continuous and physically based hydrologic model that is the smallest unit in this model is Hydrologic Response Unit, and all hydrological processes are simulated in each of these units. This model can simulate runoff, sedimentation, erosion and...

Interactive Visualization of Implicit Surfaces with Singularities

This paper presents work on two methods for interactive visualization of implicit surfaces: physically-based sampling using particle systems and polygonization followed by physically-based mesh improvement which explicitly makes use of the surface-defining equation. While most previous work applied to bounded manifolds without singularities and without boundary (topological spheres) we broaden ...

Enhanced Understanding of Particle Simulations Through Deformation-Based Visualization

We present a physically based method for visualizing deformation in particle simulations, such as those describing structural mechanics simulations. The method uses the deformation gradient tensor to transform carefully chosen glyphs representing each particle. The visualization approximates how simulated objects responding to applied forces might look in reality, allowing for a better understa...

Performance Evaluation of Viscosity Characteristics of Enhanced Preformed Particle Gels (PPGs)

Preformed Particle Gels (PPGs) treatment is one of the most promising solutions to improve conformance control in mature water flooded oil reservoirs. It is very important to be able to evaluate and predict performance of PPGs in porous media. In this paper, we will first introduce new class of enhanced PPGs designed for harsh reservoir conditions (high salinity and temperature) and then pr...
