A simplified Track Assembler I / O for the Muon Trigger Track Finder

چکیده

One of the architectural concerns in the present design of the Muon Trigger Track Finder (MTTF) is the large number of inputs to the Track Assembler (TA). In the TA block, input track segment pairs from many Extrapolation Units (EU) are associated into tracks. The relative contribution of these inputs to the assembled tracks is studied with simulated track patterns for low and high pt muons over the entire , acceptance of the CMS barrel. A pruning of the EUs is proposed which does not alter the performance of the Track Finder and minimizes the interconnections between azimuthal wedges. a) On visit from Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy, Sofia, Bulgaria

Validation of the CMS Track-Finder Trigger in a muon beam test

Following the CMS Cathode Strip Chamber Beam Test of Summer 2004, experimental validation of the performance of CMS Track-Finder Trigger is necessary. This study focuses on the analysis of the beam profile, φ distribution fits, the beam scattering due to iron blocks in the muon beam path, and the comparison of the Track-Finder Trigger hardware output to a software simulation. Employing statisti...

Feasibility of the Hardware Muon Trigger Track Finder Processor in CMS

This paper describes a feasibility study for the design of the muon trigger track finder processor in the high-energy physics experiment compact muon solenoid (CMS), planned for 2005, at CERN. It covers the specification, proposed method, and a prototype implementation. Comparison between several other measurement methods and the proposed one are carried out. The task of the processor is to ide...

The Track-Finding Processor for the Level-1 Trigger of the CMS Endcap Muon System

The algorithms and hardware implementation of the Track-Finder for the CMS endcap muon system are described. The Track-Finder is implemented as 12 Sector Processors which identify up to the three best muons in 60 azimuthal sectors. The coverage in pseudorapidity includes the region of overlap with the barrel muon system. The track-finding algorithms are inherently 3-dimensional to achieve maxim...

Simulation Studies on the Transverse Momentum Resolution of the CSC Track-Finder

Simulation results on the Pt resolution of the CSC Track-Finder are presented. The purpose of these simulation studies is to guide the design of the Endcap Muon Track-Finder, and to understand its performance. These studies will allow us to determine how well the Pt is reconstructed in the Sector Processor using LCTs measured in two or three separate muon stations.

Gaussian Mixture Model estimation

One of the keystones of the canceled BTeV experiment (proposed at Fermilab’s Tevatron) was its sophisticated threelevel trigger. The trigger was designed to reject 99.9% of lightquark background events and retain a large number of B decays. The BTeV Pixel Detector provided a 3-dimensional, high resolution tracking system to detect B signatures. The Level 1 pixel detector trigger was proposed as...
