Legal Background of Mental Health Review Tribunals in the Uk

establishing a dialogue on the merits of the tribunals, and providing an impetus for procedural improvements for tribunal clients. In this study, a primary focus of interest is upon the impact of legal processes on the individuals who use them or who are subject to them. One possibility raised by this is that in some cases, legal procedures that are designed to safeguard an individual’s rights might in reality be anti-therapeutic. If these procedures are identified, it is incumbent on us to be aware of their impact, and to address the necessary steps that could enable more appropriate changes to be introduced.
