On Properties of Active Shape Models

چکیده
Contrary to many other deformable models Active Shape Models (ASM) represents a general way of performing non-rigid object segmentation. Shape variation is extracted from a training set by applying principal component analysis to point distribution models, rather than hand crafting a priori knowledge into the model. In this paper we investigate di erent properties of ASM. Topics treated are the generation of plausible shapes, tangent space transformation and model to image tting assisted by statistical models of gray level variation in the training set. Finally a method for automatic initialization and a comparison of four model to image tting methods are presented. The initialization part indicates that completely automatic segmentation could be done by ASMs. The comparison part shows an improved t for model to image t methods based on gray level variation in the training set.

3D Models Recognition in Fourier Domain Using Compression of the Spherical Mesh up to the Models Surface
Representing 3D models in diverse fields have automatically paved the way of storing, indexing, classifying, and retrieving 3D objects. Classification and retrieval of 3D models demand that the 3D models represent in a way to capture the local and global shape specifications of the object. This requires establishing a 3D descriptor or signature that summarizes the pivotal shape properties of th...
متن کاملMultiscale Shape Description of Mr Brain Images Using Active Contour Models
In this paper we present a hierarchical multiscale shape description tool based on active contour models which enables data-driven quantitative and qualitative shape studies of MR brain images at multiple scales. At large scales, global shape properties are extracted from the image, while smaller scale features are suppressed. At lower scales, the detailed shape characteristics become more prom...
متن کاملShape Selective Pillared Clay Catalysts for P-Xylene Production
Shape selective xylene production is very important in the polymer industry because of its extensive use as raw material for monomer preparation. The acidity associated with the Lewis and Broensted centers present in the pillars interlayered clay and its textural properties allows good catalytic activity and shape selectivity toward p-xylene production. So, in the present study, ultrasonic and ...

In this paper, the shape memory, mechanical and Izod impact properties of a new shape memory nanocomposite based on thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and alumina nanoparticles were investigated. The morphological results showed that the presence of 1% alumina nanoparticles made a reduction in diameter of ABS domains and caused a uniform distribution of the ...
