چکیده

Methods We reviewed the data of liver transplant recipients who underwent percutaneous dilational tracheotomy in Baskent University Hospital between January 2010 and March 2015. Collected data included demographics (age, sex, body weight, length); etiology of chronic liver failure; comorbidities; Child, Model for End Stage Liver Disease (MELD), acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHE II), and sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) scores; length of hospitalization and mechanical ventilation; etiology of acute respiratory failure; pre-PDTPlatelet count and international normalized ratio (INR) values; partial pressure of arterial oxygen to fractional inspired oxygen ratio (P/F), and pulmonary compliance. Preand post-PDT values were compared using Wilcoxon test.

Percutaneous Dilational Tracheotomy in Solid-Organ Transplant Recipients.

OBJECTIVES Solid-organ transplant recipients may require percutaneous dilational tracheotomy because of prolonged mechanical ventilation or airway issues, but data regarding its safety and effectiveness in solid-organ transplant recipients are scarce. Here, we evaluated the safety, effectiveness, and benefits in terms of lung mechanics, complications, and patient comfort of percutaneous dilatio...

Atresia of the trachea following repeated percutaneous dilational tracheotomy.

Percutaneous dilational tracheotomy (PDT) and conventional tracheostomy are still competing methods to provide an airway for intensive care patients requiring assisted ventilation. Tracheal stenosis is a late complication for any tracheostomy and long-term intubation. However, late complications in PDT have not been extensively studied. This article is the first to report on total atresia of th...

A prospective, randomized, study comparing early percutaneous dilational tracheotomy to prolonged translaryngeal intubation (delayed tracheotomy) in critically ill medical patients.

OBJECTIVE The timing of tracheotomy in patients requiring mechanical ventilation is unknown. The effects of early percutaneous dilational tracheotomy compared with delayed tracheotomy in critically ill medical patients needing prolonged mechanical ventilation were assessed. DESIGN Prospective, randomized study. SETTING Medical intensive care units. PATIENTS One hundred and twenty patients...

Is percutaneous dilational tracheotomy equivalent to traditional open surgical tracheotomy with regard to perioperative and postoperative complications?

BACKGROUND Tracheotomy is one of the most common procedures performed by otolaryngologists. The traditional method involves an open surgical technique (OST) performed in the operating room (OR). Since the mid-1980s, percutaneous dilational tracheotomies (PDT) have been performed by otolaryngologists and nonotolaryngologists with increasing frequency. An energized discussion in the literature ha...

Balloon-facilitated percutaneous dilational tracheostomy tube placement: preliminary report of a novel technique.

OBJECTIVE To describe a novel technique for percutaneous tracheotomy (PT) that could be an alternative to current dilational techniques. DESIGN An observational animal study of PT was performed using the Seldinger guide wire technique with a tracheostomy tube preloaded onto a dilational balloon catheter. A small skin incision was done with an 11-blade scalpel, but no blunt subcutaneous tissue...
