The effective collection of fly ash at pulverized coal-fired plants.
نویسنده
چکیده
The effective collection of fly ash in pulverized coal-fired plants which utilize electrostatic precipitators depends primarily on the effect of coal sulfur content, the gas temperature, and the carbonaceous content of the fly ash on the precipitator electrical power input. While the majority of precipitator installations are effective fly ash collectors, an abnormal change in any of the above factors can sometimes adver~cly affect collector performance. A knowledge of the interaction of these three factors and the ability of the mechanical collector to alter precipitator electrical characteristics will often enable the operator to explain and possibly correct a decrease in precipitator efficiency. The purpose of the paper is to discuss these phenomena.

Distribution of trace elements in coal and coal fly ash and their recovery with mineral processing practices: A review
Today coal is among the most important energy sources. In order to meet the world's energy demands, low-calorie lignite with a high ash content is generally used in the large capacity coal-fired thermal power plants. As a result of coal firing, wastes such as fly ash, slag, and flue gas are also produced. Subsequently, toxic trace elements within coal are transferred to wastes such as slag, fl...
متن کاملPotential Use of Surfactant-Modified Zeolite for Attenuation of Trace Elements in Fly Ash Leachate
Large volumes of fly ash and other coal combustion products (CCPs) are produced every year by coal-fired power plants. About 50% of the CCPs produced in the U.S. is buried in impoundment lagoons or dry landfills. Fly ash is generally enriched in several potentially hazardous trace elements, such as As, B, Cd, Co, Cr, Mo, Se, Sr, and V, which can leach from older, unlined disposal sites. Therefo...
متن کاملEnvironmental Assessment of Bottom Ash from Canadian Coal-Fired Power Plants
Bottom ashes collected from ESP and baghouse of seven pulverized coal-fired power plants using subbituminous and bituminous coal and a fluidized bed combustor using crushed bituminous coal were examined for their mineralogy and elemental composition. The results presented in this paper are based on the average of three samples collected from each power plant. The mineralogy of each sample was d...
متن کاملNatural radionuclides from coal fired thermal power plants – estimation of atmospheric release and inhalation risk
Coal, bottom ash and fly ash samples were collected from three different coal-fired thermal power plants in India and subjected to gamma spectrometry analysis for natural radioactivity contents. The results of present study show that fly ash and bottom ash contains two to five times more natural radionuclides than feed coal. None of the fly-ash and bottom ash samples had radium equivalent activ...
متن کاملArsenic leachability and speciation in fly ashes from coal fired power plants
To determine dominant factors on arsenic leaching from the coal fly ash, arsenic leaching test under a constant pH was performed. Twelve fly ash samples were collected from two coal fired power plants (600 MWe) having different boiler types. Arsenic in the raw coal was almost all associated with the fly ash in both power plants; however arsenic leaching fraction was strongly differed in boiler ...
