چکیده
Introduction Dental materials are o en suspected to be the causative agent in contact allergic reactions [1, 2, 3, 4]. However, typical morphological correlates are not always found in the oral mucosa. Allergic contact stomatitis generally presents clinically as in ltrated erythema with or without erosions. Having said that, contact allergies occasionally present as lichenoid lesions in the oral mucosa; in such cases, it is important to perform a comprehensive allergy diagnosis to identify and avoid the trigger.

Lichen planus and lichenoid reactions of the oral mucosa.
Oral lichenoid reactions represent a common end point in response to extrinsic agents (drugs, allergens), altered self-antigens, or superantigens. Oral lichen planus, a common and under-recognized inflammatory disorder, shares many clinical and histopathological features with oral lichenoid drug reaction and oral lichenoid contact reaction. Clinical presentation can vary from asymptomatic white...

A 55 year old male patient came for routine dental examination. History revealed that he was a heavy tobacco chewer for the past 20 years. During examination, several radiating white lines were found on top of a slightly grey background, in relation to the right buccal mucosa. The location of the lesion clearly coincided with the site of placement of quid. A differential diagnosis of lichen pla...

Oral lichenoid reactions are considered variants of oral lichen planus and may be regarded as a disease by itself or as an exacerbation of an existing oral lichen planus by the presence of medication or dental materials. They represent a type IV hypersensitivity reaction and most commonly affect the oral mucosa in direct contact with an amalgam restoration. Oral lichenoid reactions can cause si...

The progression of OLP to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has generated a longstanding controversy about the details of this malignant transformation potential. This study aimed to do a systematic review on the molecular markers related to the malignant transformation of OLP.METHODS: We searched the...
