Uniformity of Distributions

چکیده
We return today to property testing and a surprising application of F2 estimation (or equivalently `2-norm approximation) for the problem of testing the closeness to uniform of a probability distribution. We consider discrete distributions on the domain [n]. Each such distribution is given by a probability vector p = (p1, . . . , pn). The uniform distribution U on [n] has Ui = 1/n for all i ∈ [n]. The property testing problem we focus on first is to do the following:

Behavioral Optimization of Pseudo-Neutral Hole in Hyperelastic Membranes Using Functionally graded Cables
Structures consisting of cables and membranes have been of interest to engineers due to their higher ratio of strength to weight and lower cost compared to other structures. One of the challenges in such structures is presence of holes in membranes, which leads to non-uniform stress and strain distributions, even under uniform far-field deformations. One of the approaches suggested for controll...
متن کاملSobolev Tests of Goodness of Fit of Distributions on Compact Riemannian Manifolds
Classes of coordinate-invariant omnibus goodness-of-fit tests on compact Riemannian manifolds are proposed. The tests are based on Giné's Sobolev tests of uniformity. A condition for consistency is given. The tests are illustrated by an example on the rotation group SO(3). 1. Introduction. Although many tests of goodness of fit are available for distributions on the circle, comparatively little...
متن کاملModeling of dual frequency capacitively coupled plasma sources utilizing a full-wave Maxwell solver
The trend in dielectric etching in microelectronics fabrication with capacitively coupled plasmas is the use of multiple frequencies where a high frequency (HF, tens to hundreds of MHz) dominates ionization and a low frequency (LF, a few to tens MHz) is used to control ion energy distributions to the wafer. Process parameters, such as pressure, gas mixture and LF and HF power deposition, are im...
متن کاملA Quantitative Evaluation Method for Luminance and Color Uniformity of a Display Screen Based on Human Perception
We developed a quantitative evaluation method for luminance and color uniformity on a display screen. In this paper, we report the analysis result of a viewer perception of luminance and color uniformity. In experiments, observers subjectively evaluated Mura images which were showed on the light emitting diode (LED) backlight screen by adjusting the luminance of each LED. We measured the lumina...

ID: 13162 Title: 3D heterogeneous dose distributions for Total Body Irradiation Patients Purpose: One major objective of Total Body Irradiation (TBI) treatments is to deliver a uniform dose in the entire body of the patient. Looking at 3D dose distributions for constant speed (CteSpeed) and variable speed (VarSpeed) translating couch TBI treatments, dose uniformity and the effect of body hetero...
متن کاملCalculation of wedged dose distributions using an analytical method
Introduction: Wedge filters are used in radiotherapy to modify photon beam and improve dose uniformity in the target volume. Determination of wedge dose distribution is important to improve treatment planning accuracy. The utilization of treatment planning software to obtain dose distribution is not always available. In this work an analytical model has been developed to calcu...
