The principle of time-frequency duality of DS-CDMA and MC-CDMA

چکیده
Direct sequence (DS) and Multi-carrier (MC) code division multiple access (CDMA) are competing schemes for wireless multiple access systems. They have been studied and compared by many researchers. Time and frequency domains have long been used to represent linear systems in dual forms. In this paper it is shown, using time-frequency duality, that DS and MC can be considered dual CDMA systems or dual representations of a unique CDMA system, depending on the relationship between the spreading waveforms. The effects of transmission over a time-variant, frequency-selective channel on these dual systems are also considered. It is shown that frequency selectivity produces the same effect in MC-CDMA as time variation in DS-CDMA and vice-versa. Detection strategies for DS and MC CDMA are interrelated and their performance is compared by simulation.

The goal of this paper is to compare the performance of the linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) detector for a class of code division multiple access (CDMA) systems in time and frequency selective channels. Specifically, we consider direct sequence (DS)-CDMA, multicarrier (MC)-CDMA, and the MC-DS-CDMA systems. Two key tools are used in our development. First, a general time-frequency framew...
متن کاملNonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems
Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...
متن کاملBER Performance of MC DS-CDMA with Frequency-domain Equalization
Abstract Multi-carrier direct sequence code division multiple access (MC DS-CDMA) is a combination of time-domain spreading and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), while multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) is a combination of frequency-domain spreading and OFDM. In MC-CDMA, a good bit error rate (BER) performance can be achieved by using frequency-domain equaliz...
