Six-electron semiconductor double quantum dot qubits

چکیده
We consider a double quantum dot (DQD) qubit which contains six electrons instead of the usual one or two. In this spin qubit, quantum information is encoded in a low-lying singlet-triplet space much as in the case of a two-electron DQD qubit. We find that initialization, manipulation, and readout can be performed similarly to the two-electron case, and that energy gaps remain large enough that these operations can be performed robustly. We consider DQD potentials with parameters chosen to be representative of current experimental capabilities. Results are obtained using two complementary full configuration interaction methods.

Quantum Computing with Spin and Valley Qubits in Quantum Dots
This thesis addresses the concept of quantum computing with semiconductor quantum dots. The basic unit of a quantum computer is a quantum mechanical two-level system, the so-called quantum bit (qubit). The qubit can be defined as the spin of an electron confined in a quantum dot or as a two-dimensional subspace of the Hilbert space for several spins. Some semiconductors have several minima in t...
متن کاملConditional rotation of two strongly coupled semiconductor charge qubits
Universal multiple-qubit gates can be implemented by a set of universal single-qubit gates and any one kind of entangling two-qubit gate, such as a controlled-NOT gate. For semiconductor quantum dot qubits, two-qubit gate operations have so far only been demonstrated in individual electron spin-based quantum dot systems. Here we demonstrate the conditional rotation of two capacitively coupled c...
متن کاملScreening of charged impurities with multielectron singlet-triplet spin qubits in quantum dots
Charged impurities in semiconductor quantum dots comprise one of the main obstacles to achieving scalable fabrication and manipulation of singlet-triplet spin qubits. We theoretically show that using dots that contain several electrons each can help to overcome this problem through the screening of the rough and noisy impurity potential by the excess electrons. We demonstrate how the desired sc...
متن کاملDesigned defects in 2D antidot lattices for quantum information processing
We propose a new physical implementation of spin qubits for quantum information processing, namely defect states in antidot lattices defined in the two-dimensional electron gas at a semiconductor heterostructure. Calculations of the band structure of a periodic antidot lattice are presented. A point defect is created by removing a single antidot, and calculations show that localized states form...
متن کاملDecoherence in Solid State Qubits
Interaction of solid state qubits with environmental degrees of freedom strongly affects the qubit dynamics, and leads to decoherence. In quantum information processing with solid state qubits, decoherence significantly limits the performances of such devices. Therefore, it is necessary to fully understand the mechanisms that lead to decoherence. In this review we discuss how decoherence affect...
