چکیده
IntroductIon: There are an estimated 10 million women worldwide with breast implants and over 550,000 implants placed per year in the United States. Breast implantassociated anaplastic largecell lymphoma (BI- ALCL) is a distinctive type of Tcell lymphoma that arises around breast implants. Although rare, all cases of BI- ALCL with adequate surgical history have involved a textured breast prosthesis.

Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma Associated With Breast Implants
A forty two years old woman with a history of bilateral breast augmentation for cosmetic reasons was presented for poor healing of the surgical site. Tissue and periprosthetic fluid were removed from the wound site revealing an atypical lymphoid infiltrate. Subsequently the patient developed axillary lymph adenopathy. Excisional biopsy was performed. Flow cytometry was non-diagnostic. She conti...
متن کاملAnaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma Associated with Breast Implant: A Case Report
Primary breast lymphoma represents less than 1% of all primary breast malignancies and most primary breast lymphomas are of B-Cell origin. The association of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) negative anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), a very rare form of primary breast lymphoma, with silicone-filled breast implants has been suggested and several case reports supported this proposal, especia...
متن کاملBreast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL): Why the Search for an Infectious Etiology May Be Irrelevant.
Breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) continues to be a rare and elusive malignancy. Because BIA-ALCL does not behave like traditional lymphomas, additional research needs to be conducted to further delineate the lymphoproliferative nature of BIA-ALCL. An estimated 35 million women worldwide have breast implants and the total reported deaths from BIA-ALCL is 12 to ...

Breast Augmentation is only second to liposuction as the most commonly performed Aesthetic Surgery procedure in the United Kingdom with a “guestimated” 50,000 cases per annum. Silicone elastomer shells containing silicone gel implants have been used continuously for over 50 years in the UK. Recently Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) has been associated in women having breast implants wi...

Breast implant associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) is a recently recognized clinical entity, with only 39 well-documented cases reported worldwide, including 3 fatalities. Because of its rarity, the clinical and pathologic features of this malignancy have yet to be fully defined. Moreover, the pathogenesis of ALCL in association with textured silicone gel breast implants is poo...
