Land Surface Temprature Estimation from Thermal Band of Landsat Sensor, case Study:alashtar City

چکیده
Land Surface Temperature monitoring major parameters of climate change country studies. In this paper, two methods to retrieve the land surface temperature (LST) from thermal infrared data supplied by band 6 of the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) sensor onboard the Landsat 7 satellite are compared. The two are the mono-window algorithm developed by Qin et al. [International Journal of Remote Sensing 22 (2001) 3719] and the single-channel algorithm developed by Jime ́nez-Mun ̃oz and Sobrino [Journal of Geophysical Research 108 (2003)]. To calculate the emissivity factor two methods were used.1)NDVI Base Method , 2)Classification. Finally, we present a comparison between the LST measured in situ (from metrological stations) and the retrieved by the algorithms over an agricultural region of Alashtar city. The result show R =0.85 for Qin algorithm and R =0.79 for Jime ́nez-Mun ̃oz and Sobrino algorithm.

Assessment of Urban Heat Islands Using Remotely Sensed Data
Thermal infrared satellite sensor images are widely used for assessing the thermal urban environment as well as for identifying the Urban Heat Islands (UHI) in highly urbanized areas. In this study, the relationship between urban growth and UHI in the megacity of Istanbul was investigated using the Landsat 5 TM satellite sensor data and temperature recordings obtained from the meteorological st...

The research used the satellite image (Landsat 7 ETM ) within the thermal infrared sixth band (TIR6) and geographic information system (GIS) to determine the air pollution and its relationship with the land cover (LC) and land use (LU) of Baghdad city. Concentration of total suspended particles (TSP), lead (Pb), carbon oxides (CO, CO2), and sulphur dioxide (SO2) were obtained from 22 ground mea...
متن کاملLand Surface Temperature Retrieval from LANDSAT data using Emissivity Estimation
Land surface temperature (LST) is an essential factor in many areas like global climate change studies, urban land use/land cover, geo-/biophysical and also a key input for climate models. LANDSAT 8, the latest satellite from LANDSAT series, has given lot of possibilities to study the land processes using remote sensing. In this study an attempt has been made to estimate LST over Chittoor distr...

GIS and remote sensing technique with using Landsat 8 images data are very important methods for detection of geothermal resources. In this study, Land Surface Temperature (LST) for Ardabil province in northwest of Iran, was derived with the use of Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) of 30 m spatial resolution and Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) data of 100 m spatial resolution. We consider ...
متن کاملAn Improved Mono-Window Algorithm for Land Surface Temperature Retrieval from Landsat 8 Thermal Infrared Sensor Data
The successful launch of the Landsat 8 satellite with two thermal infrared bands on February 11, 2013, for continuous Earth observation provided another opportunity for remote sensing of land surface temperature (LST). However, calibration notices issued by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) indicated that data from the Landsat 8 Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) Band 11 have large uncerta...
