An Antidiffusive Entropy Scheme for Monotone Scalar Conservation Laws

چکیده
In a recent work J. Sci. Comput. 16 (2001), 479-524, B. Despr es and F. Lagouti ere introduced a new approach to derive numerical schemes for hyperbolic conservation laws. Its most important feature is the ability to perform an exact resolution for a single traveling discontinuity. However their scheme is not entropy satisfying and can keep nonentropic discontinuities. The purpose of our work is, starting from the previous one, to introduce a new class of schemes for monotone scalar conservation laws, that satisfy an entropy inequality, while still resolving exactly the single traveling shocks or contact discontinuities. We show that it is then possible to have an excellent resolution of rarefaction waves, and also to avoid the undesirable staircase eeect. In practice, our numerical experiments show second-order accuracy.

Convergence of Finite Difference Schemes for Conservation Laws in Several Space Dimensions : the Corrected Antidiffusive Flux Approach
In this paper, we apply the general method we have presented elsewhere and prove the convergence of a class of explicit and high-order accurate finite difference schemes for scalar nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws in several space dimensions. We consider schemes constructed—from an £-scheme— by the corrected antidiffusive flux approach. We derive "sharp" entropy inequalities satisfied by ...
متن کاملHigh-resolution FEM-FCT schemes for multidimensional conservation laws
The flux-corrected-transport paradigm is generalized to implicit finite element schemes and nonlinear systems of hyperbolic conservation laws. In the scalar case, a nonoscillatory low-order method of upwind type is derived by elimination of negative off-diagonal entries of the discrete transport operator. The difference between the discretizations of high and low order is decomposed into a sum ...
متن کاملMonotone Difference Approximations for Scalar Conservation Laws
A complete self-contained treatment of the stability and convergence properties of conservation-form, monotone difference approximations to scalar conservation laws in several space variables is developed. In particular, the authors prove that general monotone difference schemes always converge and that they converge to the physical weak solution satisfying the entropy condition. Rigorous conve...
متن کاملA total variation diminishing high resolution scheme for nonlinear conservation laws
In this paper we propose a novel high resolution scheme for scalar nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws. The aim of high resolution schemes is to provide at least second order accuracy in smooth regions and produce sharp solutions near the discontinuities. We prove that the proposed scheme that is derived by utilizing an appropriate flux limiter is nonlinear stable in the sense of total varia...
متن کاملEntropic sub-cell shock capturing schemes via Jin-Xin relaxation and Glimm front sampling for scalar hyperbolic conservation laws
We introduce a sub-cell shock capturing method for scalar conservation laws built upon the Jin-Xin relaxation framework. Here, sub-cell shock capturing is achieved thanks to an original defect measure correction technique. The proposed correction exactly restores entropy shock solutions of the exact Riemann problem and moreover, it produces monotone and entropy satisfying approximate self-simil...
