Simulation of Multiprocessor Bus Systems for Real-time Applications

چکیده
This paper discusses the principles of bus systems simulation for real-time applications. It uses a typical queuing model of a single bus with multiple processors, memories and I/O devices. The major criterion used in evaluation of real-time response is the bus access latency. An illustrative example of a VMEbus system with two arbitration protocols, round-robin and priority-based, for typical data acquisition workloads, is presented to document the results.

A Multiprocessor System with Non-Preemptive Earliest-Deadline-First Scheduling Policy: A Performability Study
This paper introduces an analytical method for approximating the performability of a firm realtime system modeled by a multi-server queue. The service discipline in the queue is earliestdeadline- first (EDF), which is an optimal scheduling algorithm. Real-time jobs with exponentially distributed relative deadlines arrive according to a Poisson process. All jobs have deadlines until the end of s...
متن کاملPredictable Real-Time Applications on Multiprocessor Systems-on-Chip
Being predictable with respect to time is, by definition, a fundamental requirement for any real-time system. Modern multiprocessor systems impose a challenge in this context, due to resource sharing conflicts causing memory transfers to become unpredictable. In this thesis, we present a framework for achieving predictability for real-time applications running on multiprocessor system-on-chip p...
متن کاملPFGN: A Hybrid Multiprocessor Real-Time Scheduling Algorithm for Data Stream Management Systems
In many of recent applications data are received as infinite, continuous, rapid and time varying data streams. Real-time processing of queries over such streams is essential in most of the applications. Single processor systems are not capable to provide the desired speed to be real-time. Parallelism over multiprocessors can be used to handle this deficit. In such a system, a multiprocessor rea...
متن کاملSingular value decomposition on processor arrays with a pipelined bus system
Singular value decomposition (SVD) is used in many applications such as real-time signal processing where fast computation of these problems is needed. In this paper, parallel algorithms for solving the singular value decomposition problem are discussed. The algorithms are designed for optically interconnected multiprocessor systems where pipelined optical buses are used to connect processors. ...
