چکیده

This experimental study looks at the problem of pathological disorders analysis from speech signals. Knowing that the vocal tract pathologies provide acoustic changes commonly called dysphonia. In particular, laryngeal pathologies have an effect on the larynx and vocal cords. When regarding to the speech production model, source-filter, the impact is even more apparent in the glottal source. Our study reports on : firstly, the estimation of the glottal source where the accurate estimation is considered. Secondly, parameterization of the glottal source. Many features are extracted such as normalized amplitude quotient (NAQ), difference between harmonic H1H2, peak slop . This analysis is performed around the German database which contains many recordings (normal and pathological subjects). More than 50 subjects are used where each speaker pronounce the sustained vowel [a] in normal intonation. The extracted parameters show an interesting tool for the discrimination between normal and pathological voice. In particular, the peak slop and harmonic richness factor present a significant differences. This work is developed under Matlab thanks to the project COVAREP (A Collaborative Voice Analysis Repository for speech technologies).

On the mutual information of glottal source estimation techniques for the automatic detection of speech pathologies

detection of speech pathologies by exploiting the estimation of the glottal source. Three methods of estimation are compared and time and spectral features are extracted. The relevancy of these features is assessed by means of information theory-based measures. This allows an intuitive interpretation in terms of discrimination power and redundancy between the features. It is discussed which fea...

Quantification of Vocal Fold Vibration in Various Laryngeal Disorders Using High-Speed Digital Imaging.

OBJECTIVE To quantify vibratory characteristics of various laryngeal disorders seen by high-speed digital imaging (HSDI). METHODS HSDI was performed on 78 patients with various laryngeal disorders (20 with polyp, 16 with carcinoma, 13 with leukoplakia, 6 with vocal fold nodule, and 33 with others) and 29 vocally healthy subjects. Obtained data were quantitatively evaluated by frame-by-frame a...

Analysis of Glottal Stop in Assam Sora Language

The objective of this work is to characterize the intervocalic glottal stops in Assam Sora. Assam Sora is a low resource language of the South Munda language family. Glottal stops are produced with gestures in the deep laryngeal level; hence, the estimated excitation source signal is used in this study to characterize the source dynamics during the production of Assam Sora glottal stops. From t...

Glottal Source Estimation and Automatic Detection of Dysphonic Speakers

Among all the biomedical signals, speech is among the most complex ones since it is produced and received by humans. The extraction and the analysis of the information conveyed by this signal are the basis of many applications, including the topics discussed in this thesis: the estimation of the glottal source and the automatic detection of voice pathologies. In the first part of the thesis, af...

Steady Flow Through Modeled Glottal Constriction

The airflow in the modeled glottal constriction was simulated by the solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations for laminar flow, and the corresponding Reynolds equations for turbulent flow in generalized, nonorthogonal coordinates using a numerical method. A two-dimensional model of laryngeal flow is considered and aerodynamic properties are calculated for both laminar and turbulent steady flows...
