Jtuttce, seeds of a species of Pharbitis (?) of the natural order convolvulaceoe. Jtuttce is a twining plant, with alternate exstipulate leaves, very common during the rains, in this part of the country. The small, round, unripe fruits are used by the natives in curries. Each capsule contains three shining seeds of a dirty grey color, one seed generally weighs 1-20 of a rupee and is used by goldsmiths as one Ruttee weight, whence the name. It acts on the bowels very gently, unaccompanied by griping, burning or nausea, and produces 4 or 5 semi-solid stools.
