Generalised Geometry for M-Theory
نویسنده
چکیده
Generalised geometry studies structures on a d-dimensional manifold with a metric and 2-form gauge field on which there is a natural action of the group SO(d, d). This is generalised to d-dimensional manifolds with a metric and 3-form gauge field on which there is a natural action of the group Ed. This provides a framework for the discussion of M-theory solutions with flux. A different generalisation is to d-dimensional manifolds with a metric, 2-form gauge field and a set of p-forms for p either odd or even on which there is a natural action of the group Ed+1. This is useful for type IIA or IIB string solutions with flux. Further generalisations give extended tangent bundles and extended spin bundles relevant for non-geometric backgrounds. Special structures that arise for supersymmetric backgrounds are discussed.

Instrument dependency of Kubelka-Munk theory in computer color matching
Different industries are usually faced with computer color matching as an important problem. The most famous formula which is commonly used for recipe prediction is based on Kubelka-Munk K-M theory. Considering that spectrophotometer’s geometry and its situation influence the measured spectral values, the performance of this method can be affected by the instrument. In the present study, three ...

Complex geometry and symplectic geometry are mirrors in string theory. The recently developed generalised complex geometry interpolates between the two of them. On the other hand, the classical and quantum mechanics of a finite number of degrees of freedom are respectively described by a symplectic structure and a complex structure on classical phase space. In this letter we analyse the role pl...

The magnetic backgrounds that physically give rise to spacetime noncommutativity are generally treated using noncommutative geometry. In this article we prove that also the theory of generalised complex manifolds contains the necessary elements to generate B–fields geometrically. As an example, the Poisson brackets of the Landau model (electric charges on a plane subject to an external, perperd...

We introduce the topcic of generalised geometry as an extension of differential geomentry on the bundle TM ⊕T ∗M . An algebraic structure is built that leads to the formation of the generalised tangent bundle. We place a generalised Riemannian metric on this space and show that it is compatible with the metric for a generalised Kähler structure. We investigate the nature of supersymmetric backg...

Regarding the static form of Maxwell’s equations in wormhole background geometry, we obtain a generalised form of Laplace’s equation. Because of peculiar geometry of the throat, lines of force that enter the wormhole at one mouth and emerge from the other, initially converge and then diverge. So, for a remote observer the wormhole can act as a charge distribution that modifies the potential, ...
