Investigation of the direct DNA damages irradiated by protons of different energies using geant4-DNA toolkit
Background: The total yields of direct Single-Strand Breaks (SSBs) and Double-Strand Breaks (DSBs) in proton energies varying from 0.1 to 40 MeV were calculated. While other studies in this field have not used protons with energy less than 0.5 MeV, our results show interesting and complicated behavior of these protons. Materials and Methods: The simulation has been done using the Geant4-DNA too...
متن کاملForward peaking of near Coulomb energy protons in (n,p) reactions at 14.1 MeV
We apply a modified statistical model of compound nucleus reactions to analyse low energy proton angular distributions from the 93Nb(n, p), Ag(n, p) and In(n, p) reactions at En=14.1 MeV. The forward peaking at the maximum of the proton evaporation spectrum at Ep = 6–8 MeV is reproduced and interpreted as an indication of the decay of thermalized-nonequilibrated nuclear states.
متن کاملAssessment of The Relation Between Energy Of Primary Protons And Undesired Neutron Dose During Proton Therapy By Monte Carlo Method
Introduction: High-energy beams of protons offer significant advantages for the treatment of deepseated local tumors. Their physical depth-dose distribution in tissue is characterized by a small entrance dose and a distinct maximum -Bragg peak- near the end of range with a sharp fall-off at the distal edge. Alongside its advantages there are some point that they need to meticul...
متن کاملProbing the states of nucleons in exotic nuclei
Many of the most exotic neutron-proton asymmetric nuclei are produced in relatively small numbers in high-energy fragmentation reactions. They are produced as fast secondary beams with energies of 100 MeV per nucleon or more. Developments made and recent results that both exploit and assess fast oneand two-nucleon removal reactions from such secondary beams are reviewed. This includes very rece...
متن کاملTemperature and n-p asymmetry dependencies of the level-density parameter in Ni¿Mo fusion reactions
Properties of evaporation residues and the accompanying light particles have been measured in Ni 1Mo fusion reactions at bombarding energies from E/A55 to 9 MeV. The data indicate that these reactions are essentially complete-fusion reactions with only a small amount of nonequilibrium emission at the highest bombarding energy studied. The measured kinetic-energy spectra of evaporated n, p, d, t...
