A 5/3-approximation algorithm for the clustered traveling salesman tour and path problems

چکیده
We consider the Ordered Cluster Traveling Salesman Problem (OCTSP). In this problem, a vehicle starting and ending at a given depot must visit a set of n points. The points are partitioned intoK,K n, prespeci ed clusters. The vehicle must rst visit the points in cluster 1, then the points in cluster 2, : : :, and nally the points in cluster K so that the distance traveled is minimized. We present a 5/3-approximation algorithm for this problem which runs in O(n) time. We show that our algorithm can also be applied to the path version of the OCTSP: the Ordered Cluster Traveling Salesman Path Problem (OCTSPP). Here the (di erent) starting and ending points of the vehicle may or may not be prespeci ed. For this problem, our algorithm is also a 5/3-approximation algorithm.

New Heuristic Algorithms for Solving Single-Vehicle and Multi-Vehicle Generalized Traveling Salesman Problems (GTSP)
Among numerous NP-hard problems, the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) has been one of the most explored, yet unknown one. Even a minor modification changes the problem’s status, calling for a different solution. The Generalized Traveling Salesman Problem (GTSP)expands the TSP to a much more complicated form, replacing single nodes with a group or cluster of nodes, where the objective is to fi...
متن کاملSolving the Traveling Salesman Problem by an Efficient Hybrid Metaheuristic Algorithm
The traveling salesman problem (TSP) is the problem of finding the shortest tour through all the nodes that a salesman has to visit. The TSP is probably the most famous and extensively studied problem in the field of combinatorial optimization. Because this problem is an NP-hard problem, practical large-scale instances cannot be solved by exact algorithms within acceptable computational times. ...

Imagine you have traveled to an unfamiliar city. Before you start your daily tour around the city, you need to know a good route. In Network Theory (NT), this is the traveling salesman problem (TSP). A dynamic programming algorithm is often used for solving this problem. However, when the road network of the city is very complicated and dense, which is usually the case, it will take too long fo...
متن کامل2 Metric Traveling Salesman
The traveling salesman problem is a classical NP-hard problem, and also hard to approximate at all under the assumption P 6= NP. Definition 1. A vertex tour of a graph G is a path which visits all vertices and returns to its starting vertex. This is another name for a Hamiltonian cycle on G. Traveling salesman problems involve finding a tour of undirected graph G with edge weights d(·), which w...
