چکیده

The drug thioridazine was first introduced in I959 and Weekley, PQtts, Reboton, and May (I960) reported the first cases of pigmentary retinopathy, in four patients who had been given approximately 2 g. daily for 30-50 days. The manufacturers (Sandoz) subsequently recommended that a daily dose of 8oo mg. should not be exceeded and since then only about half a dozen articles have appeared (all in American publications) relating to this condition. We have been unable to find any cases of thioridazine-induced retinopathy reported from Europe or England. The following is the first case to be reported from Australia and it is illustrated for the first time by a fluorescein fundus photograph.

During the first year after thioridazine exposure retinal pigmentation evolves from a granular to a patchy or nummular appearance. However, visual function and the electroretinogram typically improve during this period. Some cases may show chorioretinal atrophy and functional l...

Targeting Lung Cancer Stem Cells with Antipsychological Drug Thioridazine

Lung cancer stem cells are a subpopulation of cells critical for lung cancer progression, metastasis, and drug resistance. Thioridazine, a classical neurological drug, has been reported with anticancer ability. However, whether thioridazine could inhibit lung cancer stem cells has never been studied. In our current work, we used different dosage of thioridazine to test its effect on lung cancer...

Thioridazine, an antipsychotic drug, elicits potent antitumor effects in gastric cancer.

Thioridazine, an antipsychotic drug, has been reported to induce apoptosis in various types of cancer cells, with specificity on targeting cancer stem cells (CSCs). However, whether it elicits anticancer effects in gastric cancer has never been reported.
