چکیده

Purpose: To perform stability studies on a nanoemulsion formulation containing beclomethasone dipropionate (BD) and prepared by spontaneous emulsification method. Method: A nanoemulsion (o/w) containing BD was prepared using eucalyptus oil, Tween-40, ethanol and distilled water. The nanoemulsions were characterized by droplet size, pH, viscosity, conductivity and refractive index. Stability studies were performed according to International Council on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines over a period of 3 months. Droplet size, pH, viscosity, conductivity and refractive index were determined monthly for 3 months. The shelf-life of the nanoemulsion formulation was determined by accelerated stability testing. Results: The droplet size, conductivity, viscosity, pH and refractive index of the optimized formulations did not change significantly (p ≥ 0.05) after 3 months of storage at room temperature (25 oC). The shelf life was 1.83 years at room temperature. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that the physical and chemical stability of BD is enhanced when it is formulated as a nanoemulsion.

Stability-indicating RP-HPLC method for determination of beclomethasone dipropionate in nanocapsule suspensions

A simple stability-indicating RP-HPLC/UV method was validated for determination of beclomethasone dipropionate (BD) in nanocapsule suspensions. Chromatographic conditions consisted of a RP C18column (250 mm x 4.60 mm, 5 μm, 110 Å), using methanol and water (85:15 v/v) as mobile phase at 1.0 mL/ min with UV detection at 254 nm. The calibration curve was found to be linear in the concentration ra...

Beclomethasone dipropionate was inhaled by 16 patients with asthma in a dose of 1 mg daily for periods up to 24 weeks. No evidence of adrenal suppression was found in these patients as judged by basal cortisol levels. A further group of five patients with asthma...

Degradation products of beclomethasone dipropionate in human plasma.

The anti-inflammatory glucocorticosteroid beclomethasone dipropionate was found previously to degrade in human plasma at 37 degrees C to yield beclomethasone 17-monopropionate, beclomethasone 21-monopropionate, and beclomethasone together with three unknown species, D-1, D-2, and D-3. In this paper, we report the isolation of D-2 and D-3 by preparative HPLC and the elucidation of their structur...

Nebulised beclomethasone dipropionate suspension.

We compared nebulised beclomethasone dipropionate suspension against placebo in 16 children with moderately severe asthma in double blind crossover fashion. Three children withdrew due to deterioration while on placebo. Of the remaining 13, eight were better on beclomethasone and five on placebo. These trends in favour of nebulised beclomethasone were not significant and do not suggest that the...
